should not allow blackmail of people who sincerely do business in this country. It is time we called it the way it is supposed to be called. We know most of the counties that have changed governors over time. They arm- twist the traders from the previous regime, they refuse to pay them and require them to give a lot of money that the traders are not able to. As a House, we must protect the traders. The only way to do that is to insist that pending bills must be as is and anchored in the law as the ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I rise to also support the Report that has been done by the team led by Sen. Osotsi. They did a good job. In a country where we have a culture of praising the postman for delivering mail, we may not seem to care a lot that the national Government, in the age of internet, has the responsibility of ensuring that all these deductions are remitted to the Pension Funds. The Kenya Kwanza Government will embark on a radical scheme to change how we deal with our retirement benefits, social security and taxes, including the housing levy. If that money is not invested prudently, the workforce will be demoralized. I congratulate Sen. Osotsi for the wonderful recommendations. The County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee should ensure that the recommendations are implemented. I support.

As it has been pointed out by various contributors on the Floor of this House, the energy sector is one of the areas that Kenya needs to get right for us to move forward. We know that energy is one of the key enablers of industrial development. We know that the Kenya Kwanza Government is committed to starting agro- processing parks in all the 47 counties to provide hundreds of thousands of affordable houses. All this will have to be supplied with power. Without getting the matrix of power supply right, and getting and managing the cost of power, we ...
