  • 14 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I also want to congratulate the Minister for Agriculture for these amendments which are good for the farmers. I also want to recognise the efforts of hon. Kones in this Bill. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, since we all know the tea farmers are suffering, I urge the Minister to look into ways and means of assisting them, so that they can do proper husbandry in the tea industry. We want to see this crop assist our farmers. Where I come from, we grow nothing but tea and our farmers suffering. With those few remarks, I beg ... view
  • 7 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir for giving me the opportunity to support this Report. view
  • 2 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, while I want to thank the Minister for what she is doing, I was of the opinion that this idea of paying all those who are aged 65 years and above should be a national policy. I want to know from the Minister what criteria she is using to pay people in certain parts of the country and leaving out others? Not even a single person in my constituency is benefitting from this scheme, yet I have very many old people who are very poor. I want the Minister to tell me when she will start ... view
  • 4 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, with the creation of new districts, there were also creations of new divisions and new locations in those districts. What plans does the Government have to ensure that there are funds for divisions and locations to make them functional? Manga District which is in Kitutu Masaba Constituency which I represent is functional but the division and the locations are not, simply because of non-funding. What plans does the Government have to ensure that there is enough funding to ensure that those administrative units are operational? view

  • 28 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am surprised that the Government does not take seriously the issue of food security in this country. We have just heard that it is not the business of the Government to ensure that the maize which farmers grow is stored and bought in the right way. Given the fact that the most important duty of a Government is to feed its people; given the fact that the focus we have for next year is that we may have food deficiency in this country; and given the fact that in the past we have spent huge ... view
  • 21 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to support this Report of this Committee. I am extremely happy that I am part of this 10th Parliament, which is on the verge of making a lot of history. I think this country now has started to see that this House is playing by the fairness that it should. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am happy to note that we are now giving the Kenyan people the opportunity to be what they must be if they play by the rules and if they work hard. This country is giving our young people ... view
  • 5 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also want to join my colleagues, first of all, to congratulate all those who have been appointed to this Committee. It is important for this House to support them, so that they can deliver. As has been said by the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs and supported by hon. Orengo, any Member in this House is capable of delivering. We must now leave all these issues aside and support this Committee for it to do the very important job that we have given it to do. Parliament is the engine of the nation. ... view
  • 1 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me the opportunity also to speak my piece. I want to start by joining my colleagues in congratulating Kenyans for what we just did; bringing about the new Constitution. This was great to this country and I want to thank the President, the Prime Minister and all those who were involved in the wonderful work that was done. Equally so, I want to thank Mr. Samoei for championing the “No” side because it gave Kenyans a chance to see what democracy is all about and, for those of us who were in ... view
