  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the chance to stand and support this timely Bill. This Bill should have come earlier. When you go outside this country, anywhere in the world and mention the word “Kenya”, there are two things that people will say. They will talk of wildlife and running. Those are the two things that have sold this The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: country all over the world. These two things are being attacked from all sides. If we do not come together as a House to protect what has made this nation to be known all over the world, we will be losing a lot in this country. Wildlife has been something that has earned this country so much respect; it has earned this country so much money. The human-wildlife conflict is affecting this gain. Poaching has been another big problem we have been facing. There is one thing that we have to accept, the rate of poaching in this country has ... view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: So, the first thing is to fence these game parks so that these animals are in a place where they will not have conflicts with people who live near the parks. If we do that we will not have all these problems that we are saying we are facing in this country. view
  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I would like to support this Bill and encourage hon. Members who have problems to propose amendments so that we can have a good law that will safeguard our natural resource and the dignity of this country. view
  • 2 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to support the amendment because setting the price is key than even talking about all this. We can talk and talk but if the price remains that low, we will not achieve anything. The worst thing that all the farmers in this country are going through is lack of market and price setting. As a Government, if we do not set the price, the middlemen will come in and exploit the farmers. So, we will continue saying that we urge the Government--- We want the Government to establish a Commission that ... view
  • 2 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: If it is because of VAT, we know that, that tax was introduced on the products in the supermarket and on the products that farmers use to feed those cows. So, as the price of milk in the supermarkets goes up, we also need to make sure that the price paid to the farmers goes up. That can only be done if the Government forms a commission that will look at the price of milk on a regular basis. view
  • 2 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: We need to have our farmers educated on modern technology. The commission which will be setting the price will also educate the farmers on modern technology of farming. We say nowadays that maize and milk production is becoming digital. We should make sure that farmers are very competitive. We need to make sure that the people of Kenya are educated on the importance of drinking milk. We are comparing milk and water and yet, water has a market. We drink water even when we come to Parliament. I have not seen a day when they have brought milk here. So, ... view
  • 2 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: So, I support the amendment to make sure that the price of milk is stated clearly. That way, middlemen do not continue to exploit farmers. view

  • 17 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion which is on health and environment. For us to be a healthy nation, there are two things that we have to take seriously. One is clean water and second is a healthy and clean environment. I am proud that this Motion has come to cover one of the parts of a clean nation. No matter how many hospitals we may have in this country; no matter how much money we set aside for hospitals and health care, let me tell you that, unless ... view
