  • 12 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: This is a House of procedures. It is always good to talk about matters touching on money to the members of the public. We should talk about things that are exact to avoid misleading the public. Furthermore, I must thank the Jubilee Government for the money they have set aside for free education, support for the elderly and housing. I come from one of the counties where we lack housing. The structures that the Jubilee Government has put in place to an extent of having the Budget for housing projects will enable the people of Bomet to have access to ... view
  • 12 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: There is also the issue of maize subsidy. I must thank the Jubilee Government for the measures they have taken. view
  • 12 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: Finally, we are going for a short recess to meet constituents and do thorough campaigns for our President. I come from the Kalenjin community. In the Kalenjin culture, we normally have circumcision. When a man decides to be circumcised, he does not turn back when he has already entered the room where he is supposed to be circumcised. Hon. Raila met the wrong adviser. He made a wrong decision at a wrong time. We are set to re-elect the President. I want to tell the picketing Members that they are welcome to my house. Let us have a consultative forum ... view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me a chance to support this Bill. What this Bill does shows what this country needs to do. I agree with Members that when the Companies Act was introduced in 2015, it was a very big document that most people did not go through. What we see here is impossibility in implementing what we passed in this House. It gives us a second option to amend it so that it can be implemented to the fullest. What is happening here is a good show that not any law we have in this country can ... view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: I like what is being amended, like Clause 11. We have learnt from the mistakes we have made as a country, especially in the companies. Right now, we have very many people opening a thousand companies. You find one person is a director owning up to five companies. You find that when they apply for tenders, it is the same person applying for the same jobs using different companies. So, by amending and making sure that directors disclose all the companies in which they are directors gives the Registrar of Companies a chance to know how many companies each person ... view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: One thing that has been of concern to me is the protection of local companies from infringement or empowerment from foreign companies. I was looking at this Bill to see if there is anywhere it talks about foreign companies. When I came to the National Assembly, I brought an amendment on the shareholding of a foreign company before they work in this country. I do not know how much of it has been implemented so that we protect our young men. No matter how much we try to do this, if we have foreign companies coming and taking jobs from ... view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Another issue that we have noticed is that, as a House, we passed the 30 per cent rule. This is where for tenders given, 30 per cent should be given to women, people living with disabilities and the youth. As a leader, I have noticed that the people who apply for the reserved 30 per cent are not youth. Some people use their children or young people. You get the same person using the identity of their children or wife to open different companies then apply for tenders. You find that if it is a Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) ... view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: names of your wives, children and all other family members so that people do not open other companies using the names of their children and wives to get what is meant for the youths and others. view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: I also like the idea of transparency. This improves transparency so that people do not benefit from third parties if they are shareholders. view
  • 6 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: This is a good Bill. As a House, we should pass it. This shows that, as a country, we have been going through a lot of problems because of the Companies Bill that we passed in 2015. The implementers of that Act have discovered that they cannot implement everything. Therefore, they have brought it back to us to help them amend it so that it can be implementable. It is about time we started thinking about how to amend our Constitution. Some things are impossible to be implemented and it is our duty as leaders and people of this country ... view
