  • 10 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: There has been rain failure all over the country. My constituency has lost many crops and has failed crops. This is a matter that now requires urgent attention. I sincerely believe that with time, we should resolve those issues. We are suffering. We are paying for the sins of false promises and lies that the Jubilee Government has told us since 2013. They proposed that they would develop irrigation-fed agriculture, but up to now, there is nothing. They promised us a bumper harvest at Galana Kulalu, but up to now, there is nothing. The best they can do is make ... view
  • 5 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I share in the pain of my colleague. The statement from the Ministry is underwhelming and incapable of handling the issues at hand. The Ministry is behaving like the proverbial ostrich by burying its head in the sand knowing that everything is okay and yet Kenyans are suffering. The transport industry is a major employer. Those who are unable to operate full capacity are suffering. The social impact is overwhelming. It is more than the impact of the corona itself. The owners of those vehicles have taken loans and are choking. At some point, the whole ... view
  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. The issue of congestion in secondary schools is alarming and some of us are victims of our own success. With the improved disbursement of bursary from NG-CDF, many boys and girls who would not have gone to school at all are now flocking schools. In my constituency of Funyula, we have literally achieved a 99 per cent transition rate since I became an MP. I have one neighbouring school which has been doing well and kids have remained in school because of bursary being availed. It has got 600 pupils who are reporting in Form One ... view
  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: in the ministry. We wonder what criteria the ministry uses to distribute the funds and projects to various schools. Is it a preserve of some constituencies or is it that Members of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research grabbed everything and left the other Members with nothing? The country must have a sober discussion so that we solve this matter. There needs to be an equitable share of theinfrastructure funds in order to supplement the NG-CDF money. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I beg to move that the Committee do report to the House its consideration of the Parliamentary Pensions (Amendment) (No.3) Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 57 of 2019) and its approval thereof with amendments. view

  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Committee in the said Report. I also request Hon. (Dr.) Christine Ombaka, MP Siaya County, to second the motion for agreement with the report of the Committee of the whole House. view
  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the opportunity to contribute to the Bill at hand, that is, the National Hospital Insurance Fund (Amendment) Bill from the National Assembly. Probably if there is anything that has got the potential of disorganising a family and wiping away a family’s investment and wealth, it is medical bills. As we say in my community, you never know when you will fall sick. You can decide when to sleep and when to wake to up but you never know when you will fall sick and you never know what kind of illness that will ... view
  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: The Bill provides that there must be equal contribution for both the employer and the employee. I know we are going for many employers and this is going to increase the cost of doing business. This is going to increase the cost of running operations. Nevertheless, for the purpose of the health of this country, there are some sacrifices people, corporates and all other forms of legal entities must be willing to make for this country to be strong and productive. Obviously, if the Bill as drafted goes through, the typical private medical insurance schemes will start losing customers and ... view
  • 4 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: that particular cover, so that they fall to the NHIF leaving the patient vulnerable. You know quite a number of medical conditions like cancer take a long time to treat. view
