  • 9 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have clearly said that neither the contractor nor the engineers are to blame for the work that was done in 2006. The use of the road changed from what it was designed to heavy traffic. Therefore, they have no liability to carry for what happened to this road. However, the Ministry has noted that this road is of much economic importance to the area, hence the construction of the remaining part of about 1.4 kilometres is being done according to different specifications. view
  • 9 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg for the indulgence of the House that this Question is deferred to tomorrow because there is some important information that I need to collect to satisfactorily answer the Member. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) I confirm that there have been 12 deaths on the recently constructed Katito-Nyakwere Road. (b) My Ministry is monitoring the situation with a view of coming up with the most appropriate measure. Meanwhile, the Ministry has planned to install rumble strips in the markets along the road in the course of this financial year in order to slow down speeding motorists. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I understand and recognise the gravity of this issue. I send my condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives. However, it is important to know that the major causes of road accidents in this country are errors by view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) I beg to table a list and copies of payroll of people who worked in Limuru Constituency under the Kazi kwa Vijana Programme, showing the number of days and how much was paid to each person. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: (b) The Kazi kwa Vijana Programme started on 13th May, 2009 and ended on 30th June, 2009. (c) The constitutional mandate to audit Government expenditure falls under the Kenya National Audit Office (KNAO). However, as part of internal controls, I have instructed my officers in internal audit office to commence this exercise immediately. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in an answer to the hon. Member’s question, I would like to table a list of all the roads that were undertaken under this programme. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am unable to answer that question considering the fact that he has mentioned the Ministry of Water and Irrigation. I have to compare notes before I answer it. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir I do not have that information. view
  • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: I am not aware of that information; if the member has that information I would like to receive it. On the issue before me, I have carried with me all the documents that were used for payment of the workers. All the vouchers are here and I table them. view
