  • 18 Oct 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we are dealing with those protocol issues as I have said. We are also dealing with expanding the participation by insisting that county assemblies should be involved and that has been taken care of. We agreed that the Senator for the hosting county should also be involved right from the beginning. In fact, we have already suggested and proposed the role of the area Senator. Mr. Speaker, Sir, we have also dealt with the issue of literature or papers being used bearing the letterhead of the CoG. The minutes of the first meeting we had did not ... view
  • 18 Oct 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir; on a point of order. I thought you were a bit harsh on me, but I do appreciate. I have just seen this statement and it has got a lot of figures. Therefore, I request the Chairperson to give us up to tomorrow to look at it, so that we can answer tomorrow. Since the Senator has said it, it is of interest then I am sure more copies would be made and then we can all interrogate. So, we accept that we be given an opportunity tomorrow. view

  • 13 Oct 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Indeed, this statement has been pending in the House for a very long time. Last week, the presiding Speaker directed that this statement be issued today. I still want to insist that the urgency of this matter is serious. Farmers are waiting to know the fate of what has transpired since the said banks collapsed with their money, and KTDA which is responsible for this should assist the farmers because it is the last day today when money for the farmers is disbursed. This is important. I want to urge you to direct that ... view
  • 13 Oct 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to second the adoption of this Report which has been ably moved by the Chairperson of the Committee on Information and Technology. I want to thank the Committee for the seriousness with which they have approached this work. I would like to take this chance, having been a Member of this Committee before I moved to another Committee, to thank the Chairperson of the Committee who has a vast of experience in matters of ICT, having been the former Information Minister. He has been selfless in giving all the information and the ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, by the end of the current Session, this House will have voted for close to Kshs1 trillion to be allocated to the counties. This has never happened before and this is the kind of money that should change the lives of Kenya. However, as Senators, we have watched in disbelief as counties become citadels of corruption. The monies that we are giving out to counties are not reflected in the lives of the citizens of our country. I thank and congratulate the County Public Accounts and Investments Committee (CPAIC), chaired by Sen. (Prof.) Anyang’ Nyong’o, for ... view
  • 11 Oct 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This issue has been pending for a very long time. The farmers who lost billions are still waiting, hoping that they will be given some hope by the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. Could I ask the Chairperson to provide the answer very soon at your convenience? view
  • 6 Oct 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I congratulate the students and the staff from Moi University who have visited the Senate. Many universities have been established in this country but, unfortunately, none of them is known for any specialization. We would like to have institutions that excel in something. For example, when I was in university, I knew that if one went to Makerere University they would become a medical doctor and if one went to Dar es Salaam they would probably come with an excellent legal certificate. The University of Nairobi was also known for technical engineering courses. We would like ... view
