  • 28 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. We had a discussion in the Committee about this issue. I support the amendment because initially, it only had the option of imprisonment, but we agreed to give the judge or magistrate an option of either jailing someone for three years or less. I wanted to explain to Hon. (Ms.) Fatuma that the judge has discretion to jail one for one or two days because the term does not exceed three years. This amendment gives the judge leeway to make a decision. view

  • 26 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I support the amendment by the Chairman. The amendment is like the earlier one where people will be required to go through a vetting process. It is also important to have a procedure and ensure that those who get licences are not crooks that can endanger our lives. view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I rise to support this amendment by the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs to clarify and define ‘party primary’. Finally, I hope the women of Kenya are seeing those Members who are not supporting them so that at least next time they see what to do with them. We need affirmative action. Why are we having affirmative action in--- view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I am finalising. I had requested an opportunity to support the earlier amendment but I did not get it. If I had got it, I would have supported the women. view
  • 29 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I also rise to support the amendment by the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee to replace the word “Authority” with “Council”. view
  • 29 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, these particular amendments are clarifying the meaning of the terms used in the Bill. The Act that we are amending does not contain provisions for e-medicine. The Departmental Committee Chair is trying to include e- health and e-medicine in the definitions as well as alternative medicine. As we all know, there is alternative medicine from China, Africa and elsewhere, in the form of herbal medicine. view
  • 16 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: I rise to support the amendment proposed by the Chairlady, especially because of management plans for forests, maintaining of a register of those natural plants and conservation of catchment areas so that people do not encroach. I support the proposed amendment. view
  • 16 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I support. view
  • 16 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I support the amendment to clarify the provision. Both county and national forests are public forests. We only have public forests and not private forests. So, I support the amendment. view
