  • 4 May 2023 in Senate: It is sad that close to seven years now, we have been budgeting for and putting money under this project, for it to go into the drain in the pretext of leasing medical equipment. I do not think any feasibility study was done before the leasing of these equipment. The Ministry of Health is notorious. You remember the ambulance scandal before we came to Parliament with you. Then we had the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) billionaires during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, we have MES. People are suffering. The money should have been used to buy equipment, not for all ... view

  • 4 May 2023 in Senate: and went outside to negotiate with manufacturers or contractors. They then exposed the taxpayer to continue paying year-in, year-out, and we do not see the benefits. It is close to the ambulances for the Linda Mama P roject. Some of them stalled and did not work, and the counties never requested for them. This is serious and, as Members have said, we do not need just a Statement. We need an Ad hoc Committee to do a forensic audit, so that those who are culpable are brought to book, taken to court and put behind bars. view
  • 4 May 2023 in Senate: Finally, on connectivity, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum should tell us the number of schemes they had proposed to do. One is the Last Mile Connectivity Programme (LMCP). Some schemes across the country were terminated and we want to know the actual status. I will draft a question so that when the CS for Energy and Petroleum comes to the House, he gives us a report on connectivity across the country. On counties that are below 10 per cent in terms of electricity connectivity, are given affirmative action like the Equalization Fund. That way, everyone will benefit. Power has ... view
  • 3 May 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I beg to welcome the students and lecturers from the University of Eldoret. University of Eldoret was part of Moi University in those days when we had only four universities in the country. I welcome them to the Senate to learn. I believe that when they go back, they will be different students. We encourage them to listen because majority of the Members who are in this House, in their own lives, were student leaders in the universities those days. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the former principal of that university is also here. I believe ... view
  • 2 May 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to make some comments on this one although I wanted to make on the earlier one. I remember during the COVID-19 pandemic, we had many issues. We did not know that oxygen was really something that we needed. During that time, I remember counties were given resources to set up Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and oxygen plants. It is important we ensure that each of our referral county hospitals have oxygen plants. It is not very difficult to put up an oxygen plant and do piping in all the wards where our patients require oxygen. ... view

  • 2 May 2023 in Senate: referral hospital recently and they have already put up a plant. I believe that in the next few weeks, the Iten County Referral Hospital will have oxygen in all the wards. view
  • 27 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. It is sad that these things are happening in Kenya at this day and age. This criminal is not a pastor. We need to call Mackenzie a criminal and not a pastor. As a devoted Christian, he has brought some disrepute to the Christian faith. I believe he is not a pastor. This is because in one of the 10 commandments in the Bible, God said, “do not kill’. This is what this flamboyant and prosperity-preaching criminal was prophesizing and cheating the vulnerable people who are sick, have family issues or are bereaved. The established ... view
