For the last few months we have had a lot of issues, two of our children who were in class three and five respectively, were killed last Sunday by cattle rustlers. The Members of the Committee are in agreement with the amendments. So, we can dispose of this particular Report with amendments because it has been here since July, last year. I rise to join my colleagues in supporting the Salaries and Remunerations Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2018 (Senate Bill No.12 of 2018). Sometimes it is important that the nominating authorities are given timelines. If we do not do that, they can sit on the selection of their own representative thus messing up the Commission. • 2 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: The second aspect is on the expiry of the term of commissioners. Recently, the term of the Inspector-General of Police expired. The law is clear that a day before the date you were sworn in, your term expires. Even for this particular one, the term for the commissioners and the chairperson of the Commission will expire in six years’ time, just a day before the day they were sworn in.
