  • 27 Sep 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. First of all, I congratulate you for having been elected to sit on that Chair. I express my confidence in you, that you are an able leader and you will do this House proud. I also welcome the delegation from Meru County who are with us this afternoon. I wish to tell them that their current governor was one of the pillars of this House. I am sure that they will enjoy working with him. We are here all the time to support counties. Having said that, I want to support the Motion before us ... view
  • 14 Sep 2017 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. It is the beginning of this new House and many Senators are very anxious to contribute to this Motion. I request that our contribution be restricted to three minutes, so that as many people as possible who wish to contribute can do so. If you are in agreement, I want to be the first to make a statement. view

  • 6 Apr 2017 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I was coming, I tried to find out from the clerk of the Committee why some of the statements were not ready. According to him, the statement sought arrived at Harambee House very late and that is why they could not make available the statement. It is very unfortunate that we Chairmen are being vilified here for mistakes which are not ours. So, the best we could do--- view
  • 6 Apr 2017 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is not you but Members who ask for statements who demand for things that are impossible for us do. Our work is to follow them up. The Clerk himself admitted that most of the statements were delayed here in the House. So, it is not our fault. view
  • 1 Mar 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I have been the Provincial Commissioner for Rift Valley, and I am quite aware of the plight of the Talai Community. It is very unfortunate that when we talk about historical injustice, we are talking about what happened from 1963 to date. Yet, we are being told from 1834 the Talai people have been segregated, killed and their property taken away simply because they stood for the interest of this country. We are also quite aware that successive governments in this country have been addressing the land issue. Many settlement schemes have been ongoing ... view
  • 21 Feb 2017 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for Sen. Murkomen to say that the President of America is a rogue president? Is he in order to discuss the President of a friendly country? view
