  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Diabetes is also very expensive in terms of dietary requirements. I want to imagine that screening and testing centres will have cheap and relevant foodstuffs. We know that a diabetic person needs to eat well. A diabetic person needs to eat specific foods and they might not be easily available in the rural areas. The diet in the rural areas is normally simple. People have to remain heathy, especially those who are affected by diabetes and those who are potential recruits. Diabetes has tremendously increased because of new lifestyles. It has increased because of imported diets that we are now ... view

  • 12 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask Question 97 of 2019 to the Cabinet Secretary Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. (i) What is the status of the construction of the Mogonga - Kanyenya – Riokindo – Magenche – Eberege Road, the first bitumen road in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency that was started in 2015? (ii) Is the Cabinet Secretary aware that the quality of construction of sections of the said road does not meet the required minimum standards? (iii) What measures is the Ministry putting in place to ensure that the said road is constructed to the required standard ... view
  • 6 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very critical Motion. When we talk about regulation of public transport fares, we are talking about controlling the growth of our economy. We are talking about a sector that affects everyone. As an enabler, this sector affects the common man – it affects Wanjiku, Mama Mboga and everybody. What impression do we get in terms of empowering these people to contribute to our economy if their earnings cannot be managed well? What we have now is a sector that is moving backwards. There were better ... view
  • 6 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: There have been many reasons as to why the public transport sector always hikes fares. People have spoken about the weather in Nairobi but we also have increase in fuel prices which is not justified. We know that in this country fuel prices go up and come down but once fares of view
  • 6 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: go up, they never come down. For the last two months since Michuki rules were reactivated, vehicles operating between Kisii, Kilgoris and Kenyenya doubled their fares by 300 per cent. That is very unrealistic. We see this happening. There is a public outcry and nobody seems to be attending to these complaints. Police see these things happening on the roads yet they are not acting. As we embark on the Big Four Agenda, the transport sector needs to be thought of seriously and systematically because you cannot create barriers for people to move and expect the economy to grow. We ... view

  • 5 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to make this timely Statement. Pursuant to Standing Order No. 43, I wish to make a Statement regarding police killings of innocent residents of Bomachoge Borabu Constituency. Since September 2018 to date, my constituency has witnessed the loss of two innocent lives while three people have been maimed and their dreams shattered in the hands of the police. On 12th September 2018, a matatu tout, Paul Onderi Omare of Kiabugesi Village, died mysteriously at the hands of a contingent of policemen who were chasing him. On 13th September 2018, the ensuing ... view
  • 28 Feb 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to make a contribution on two areas. One of the challenges that the county has been facing is the number of strikes, ranging from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Education and to our universities. I do not see any pronouncement on how those strikes could be reduced because they have a cost implication. They drain the Budget and, at the end of it, we do not have any gain. I would like to see strategies in place to ensure that issues like delay to submit statutory ... view
