Thank you, Hon. Speaker. It has been a long day waiting to be given this opportunity to speak, but I want to say it has also been a very good opportunity for me to listen to the many Members contribute to the amendment Bill with diverse views. I want to begin by saying that I am so happy for this particular occasion and, as a nation, we have come together through the initiative of the leadership of this country to begin engaging in The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. Hon. Speaker, the Bill before us has been constituted through a process that has engaged more or less the whole of Kenyan community. I know that there has been a good purpose for this Bill. Many of us are already aware of the situation that we find ourselves in as a country after every election. The Bill that is to be amended goes beyond the point of election. It talks about what else has happened between elections that has drawn this country to a state of hopelessness. It has been a good opportunity for the leadership of this country to ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Amendment that has been put forward with regard to inheritance. I want to make a few observations. One observation is what has been alluded to by Hon. Mbadi that, indeed, as we think about inheritance. We must also think about the dynamics that are going on in the society. It is not a privilege of many to inherit from their fathers anymore because within the African tradition, what was common to be inherited was land and wealth from the parents. This is not the case anymore. It is because of ...

Hon. Deputy Speaker, I also agree with what was raised by one of our Members that we need to think about grading this inheritance. There are those who may have invested more than others and there are those who will have joined the family as life continues. Subdivision of wealth should be done on a pro rata basis. It should be on the basis of how much one has contributed to the acquisition of that property.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to condole with the family of a man who might be little known to many of us because of the time he served in this Parliament, but also because of the way he decided to run his life after politics. The late Hon. Motari happened to be my neighbour in Trans Nzoia, and I have known him as a selfless man. Other than the donations of land for the Catholic Church, Hon. Motari also offered to give us land where we built the second buying centre in Cherangany Tea ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also support this Petition. The issue of issuance of ID cards is not new. I would just appeal that, as the Committee reflects on this matter, we provide necessary mechanism to ensure provision of The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. ID cards. Students in secondary schools should be provided with ID cards before they leave schools. Looking at my constituency, we have a backlog of many youths who have no ID cards. We have ID cards in offices that have never been distributed because we have no facilities that can move these people around to take ID cards. So, it is a big issue that needs a clear pathway for this matter to be settled. I support the Petition. Thank you, Hon. Speaker.

Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to join my colleagues to congratulate you for that achievement. I want to state that it takes many factors for someone to be recognised as a leader.
