  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: I want to congratulate the elders who installed you into this new position. If I had the opportunity to be in that team, I would have put my weight behind you. Having been in this House for more than three years, I want to confidently say that you deserve that new role. Hon. Speaker, it takes a lot of courage to unify this House to produce legislation or even reach a consensus. I believe the elders have made a new mark in your life and have blessed you. I have listened to this House and all the voices Members point ... view
  • 2 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute and support this Mediated Bill. It is a version of what we as Members of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research Committee had put our input. Now, it has been harmonised with what was intended to be the case by the Senate. If there is a sector in education that has suffered for many years, it is the Early Childhood Education. It has always been taken as being informal and existing without structures. I am very happy that this time we can proudly say that the ... view
  • 2 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Finally, I want to say that the infrastructure of those facilities must come out clearly and stand out because it is at this stage that we build a sense of admiration and choice. When this is done, as a nation, we will begin to be proud of our children and we will be ready to move forward with them. With those few remarks, I support the Bill. view

  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. It is unfortunate that I am making this point of order very late. The Member speaking on the Floor is without a mask. view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to also make some remarks on this amendment Bill. I want to agree with what has been said and what is in the Constitution – that, the purpose of this amendment is to ensure that the democracy of this country is improved. I hope we are making a step by step amendment so that looking forward to years to come, for the generations that are yet to come we should make sure they enjoy the foundation of democracy that this Parliament has contributed. We know that according to Article ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: board so that they all understand what they are doing and what is happening in this country. You might be surprised to learn that a number of people in this country right now do not know anything about the amendments we are talking about, the various political transformations, and the BBI. They may not know just because they have no access to the right information. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, technology is at our fingertips, but we do not seem to embrace it to ensure that we can promote some of these weaker areas when it comes to referendum and voting. ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this noble amendment to the Crops Act. Looking back on the development of the crops sector, the country seems to be moving in reverse. Many crops that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s have now disappeared. This disappearance has been not complemented by the expansion of new crops such as coffee. If well- embraced in many areas of this country, coffee could have improved the economy of this country in a number of areas where it has more or less disappeared. Part of the challenge is ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: used to be provided in the 1970s and 1980s are not there. Even when they are from the private sector and individual consultants, the prices are too high and even the consultants are not available. It is important that even as we amend this part of the Act, we look at the many areas that are putting this country into a very awkward situation such that we now have to rely on the neighbouring countries for very simple products. The market is invaded by products from the region that we do not even need. They come to spoil the market. ... view
