  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I fully support the Crops (Amendment) Bill. As we, as a country, move forward, I appeal that we need to know that agriculture is fundamental. Crop production is very critical both in the high and low potential areas. It is not only for food production, but also as a source of income and a sector that employs majority of the people in the rural areas. view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this noble amendment to the Crops Act. Looking back on the development of the crops sector, the country seems to be moving in reverse. Many crops that were popular in the 1960s and 1970s have now disappeared. This disappearance has been not complemented by the expansion of new crops such as coffee. If well- embraced in many areas of this country, coffee could have improved the economy of this country in a number of areas where it has more or less disappeared. Part of the challenge is ... view

  • 9 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for that clarification to the rest of the Members. The man we are eulogising is a person who has left a lot of footprints in the lives of Kenyans. As one of the civil servants, he demonstrated what it means to grow on merit within Government ranks. He was a well-educated person who earned his promotions based on his credentials. He is a good role model to the rest of Kenyans who are working for this country and have done a lot and, perhaps, have not been recognised. At the county level, the late Nyachae left ... view
  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I feel privileged to contribute to the Motion on the President’s Address to the nation. I want to begin by saying that the address captures a number of issues that are affecting this country; ranging from security to health, education and youth unemployment. Hon. Deputy Speaker, I want to zero in on one sector that I feel has not been adequately addressed – the education sector. The President highlighted a number of actions that have been taken within this period to ensure that the education sector is transformed to the level that is required to ... view

  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: therefore, not much was reported in terms of preparedness. We are talking about the expansion of infrastructure in schools, upgrading of the same infrastructure, provision of water and sanitation services. However, many Members will agree with me that there is nothing much to celebrate about in those areas. As much as we must open the doors for pupils and student early next year, the report does not give us indicative plans to ensure that proper infrastructure and proper water services will be in place. The President has been very categorical. He talks of, at least, 12,500 new classrooms, but I ... view
