  • 24 May 2023 in Senate: I believe that is why we are still owning and sticking to 50.1 per cent, to be able to push our interest in supporting growth of power in our country and ensuring the cost of power is correct. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if you go to the investment front, unless we are competitive, we cannot attract any firm to invest because investment is about return. Where there is competition, global firms will only invest where they get cost advantage, distant advantage and so on and so forth. Sen. Wakoli, we are working on restructuring of KPLC mid-term and balance sheet ... view
  • 13 Jun 2017 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to support what my colleagues have said because we finished our work in the Committee of Finance, Commerce and Budget. Let history be made that there has been a conspiracy between the two Houses. view
  • 29 Mar 2017 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, if I heard him right, the issue of fertilizer and farmers at this moment is very crucial. There is no fertilizer in the depots. There is what is called 23:23:23. I do not know where it will be used and on which soil. Maize and food production will be zero. What I have heard is not correct. Could he tell us when farmers will get the right fertilizer? view
  • 29 Mar 2017 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I urge you to stick to the rules of the House. This is a House of rules and order. No one can intimidate you to look back. It is unfortunate because this afternoon we have not carried ourselves in a deserving manner, especially my friend whom I respect very much. The Minority Leader should have carried himself in a better manner – he calls somebody else that “man from Gatundu.” It is not acceptable because he is the President of Kenya. We all need to respect him. Therefore, what has transpired is not acceptable. I ask you ... view
  • 28 Feb 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I also join my colleagues in sending my condolences to the family of the late Governor for Nyeri. Indeed, the death was a great shock. I remember when we were in Geneva with Sen. Kagwe, he was planning to go and see him in the London hospital. I believe that whatever has happened is beyond anybody else’s wish. I wish to say pole to the people of Nyeri, especially his family for the great loss. Governor Gachagua has done a lot for the people of Nyeri. The whole of Kenya is mourning the loss. ... view
  • 22 Feb 2017 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would also like to add my voice on this. It is very disturbing that this issue has dragged for a long time. I would like to support the sentiments of Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. Let us find a time when all of us are committed. When it comes to such an issue, we all need to be united so that we support it. view
  • 14 Feb 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to pay tribute to my special son. I also want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for representing us at the funeral service. Kenya has lost a great leader, the Senate has lost a great debater; very eloquent, full of humour, a great man, supporting devolution. The people of Kwale have lost a great legislator and a family has lost a father. We will miss him greatly. I served with Boy Juma Boy in the Eighth Parliament in those days of KANU and he truly was a ... view
