• 25 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Finally, in the long run, we should recommend that civil registration centres should be established at ward level. Chiefs can be used to initiate the process. Civil registration officers at the sub-county level can make the document available. With those remarks, I support the Motion and thank Hon. Martha for bringing it to the House. view

Speaker, I seek extension of the consideration period for the Irrigation Bill for one more day owing to the fact that we still have the input from stakeholders that are quite overwhelming. Therefore, we needed to run it first to the Ministry and other stakeholders so that we can accommodate all those views. So, I rise to seek extension by one more day. Thank you. view

• 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: The major problem in this country today is food security. This is as a result of using seeds and animal genetic products that have not been properly researched, tested and certified. In the rural areas, after harvesting, farmers select the best seeds and store them somewhere for planting in the next season. The establishment of a fully-fledged State Department for Agricultural Research is, indeed, the way forward. The professor’s CV has been read out here and it is very impressive indeed. Since long ago when Egerton was still a college and I was a student there, I used to hear about these accidents in those areas up to and including yesterday. What are we doing about it? We need not talk and talk and do nothing. What we need to do is to first and foremost find the root cause of that particular accident in that particular area. Why that area all the time?
