When I received my mortgage, Barclays Bank asked me to explain where that money was coming from. I told them it was from my employer. Where was it coming from? It was through an RTGS. The people I represent go to livestock markets and they have to carry cash. People from Embu, Mwingi and Nairobi go to the biggest livestock market in Garissa. Traders cannot withdraw money to buy cattle. Citizens who sell their animals cannot deposit money. When you sell your three camels, you are asked where you got the money from.
