10 May 2018 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Would I be in order to indicate that in the Standing Orders, it is very clear that if the Chairperson or Vice Chairperson is not there, like Sen. Seneta has done today, we can give the statement. So, the issue raised by Sen. Sakaja, is not whether you are there or whether the other person is there because the Speaker already ruled before that you can give the statement even if the person who sought that statement is not there at that time on a day you will not be there, you ...

10 May 2018 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is Sen. Sakaja in order to process in his mind what I have or have not understood? He cannot get in mind to understand what I have understood. I understood what he said and stated another point of order which was important to help us in this House to deal with the issue of statements which we have seen this afternoon as an issue we need to be a bit dynamic on in how we address.

10 May 2018 in Senate:
Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I stand to support this Bill from the onset and commend the Senator who has moved it. Its nexus is the issue of when counties are suspended, as almost happened in the case of Makueni County during the Eleventh Parliament, there came a realization that there had not been a particular legislation in place to ensure that such a situation is satisfactorily dealt with. At that time, the county did not get suspended. However, we realised that the Senate- especially in terms of legislation- that it could happen. This Bill has been put into place ...

21 Mar 2018 in Senate:
Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I stand right from the onset to support this Bill. The whole idea of the way we handle the matters of the flag has a lot to do with our history; the way we grew up and the way we have learnt to behave within a certain context. For example, in many communities and in many places, when the flag was being hoisted, you had to stand at attention and if you moved, you would be stopped. You had to raise it up in a certain way and salute. I think this is what ...

On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Would I be in order to request for a few minutes to welcome the young men and women, especially as we discuss such an important amendment to this Bill, touching on our patriotism? Could I proceed to welcome them?

21 Mar 2018 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. We are really proud to see the young boys in the Gallery this afternoon. We wish them the best in their school work and all that they do. We are happy they are here this afternoon when we are in the process of discussing an amendment to the National Flag, Emblems and Names (Amendment) Bill, 2017. We are talking about the importance of revering our flag and using it as a sense of identity for ourselves as Kenyans. They will follow a bit of this debate and as they go back, they will explain ...

21 Mar 2018 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I was trying to attract your attention before you move too far. Is it in order for Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. to support the Motion instead of seconding it for the record of this Senate?

8 Mar 2018 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also take this opportunity to join you in welcoming the members of the PTA from Alliance Girls High School. Alliance Girls High School is one of the schools that are well known. I am happy that it is a girls’ school that is representing here today on the International Day of Women. Please, teach these girls to be women of standards, virtue and pride; that they can step up and fly among and above all the eagles. The glass ceiling was long ago broken and it continues to be broken every other day. Let ...
