  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: That notwithstanding, I want to support this Motion. I want to say that this House is great. It has to make its own calendar, especially during this new Session. We need to work together as leaders. This is a new year even though we have different opinions. We want to reach out to our friends because elections and campaigns are over. We want to work hard now to ensure that we fulfil our pledges for this particular year which we promised Kenyans when we went out to campaign. view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Lastly, I am really worried about the state of security in Samburu North, Samburu County Marakwet and Isiolo. As the chairman of pastoralist parliamentary group, I want leaders to work together and ensure that peace prevails, especially at this particular time when we have drought. Anytime there is drought, there is competition for resources such as pasture and water. So, we want to appeal to our Members in pastoralist parliamentary group to ensure that we do not fight. We should ensure that we work together because no particular leader in any area, even in northern Kenya, can tell his people ... view

  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to join my colleagues in supporting the nomination of the nine nominees. We, from northern Kenya, the Pastoralists Parliamentary Group and the entire pastoralist fraternity are very proud of all the nominees, including the ones who come from our region. The President has done us proud. This is something that we did not expect. We know that all the nine nominees merit and have the credentials and experience that is necessary for the respective jobs they have been nominated to take up. Specifically, I want to mention ... view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: it. We really fought her last time but now we are going to work with her. I support her nomination as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs. The other nominee is Keriako Tobiko. He is an experienced person. I knew him from 2000 when he was working for the constitution review commission which was based on 4th Floor of Kencom House. He is a person I have known for a long time. He has done a commendable job in the DPPs office by brining reforms. He is very humble, approachable and very accessible. I support his nomination for the position of ... view
  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Before I comment on the Building Surveyors Bill, I would like to take this opportunity to just join my colleagues and the people of Kitui West to pass my heartfelt condolences to the family and the people of Kitui for the loss of Hon. Nyenze. This is a very painful loss. We knew Hon. Nyenze as a very vibrant and articulate person. He was a man of leadership qualities in the last Parliament. He had done his best to represent the people of Kitui West as well as his party, being the Leader of ... view
  • 6 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: devolved to the grassroots, many people who had no opportunities before to access resources can now access them through employment. Many senior members of staff in the counties now have opportunity to get mortgages and even tenderers bid to build either public or private houses. Buildings are coming up, which is very important, good and encouraging. I urge surveyors and architects who are responsible for buildings to ensure that no opportunity is allowed for unprofessional way of constructing buildings. It has become shameful. Houses are becoming a death row. They have been killing people every now and then because people ... view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, kindly go to the next person in the list, I did not prepare for this particular Motion. view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. This is a very emotive matter. It has touched many of us and it came as a surprise. view
  • 7 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: The people who were herding cows in Laikipia on that particular day are Kenyans and they respect the rule of law. It is not true that they were armed. We know them. There were two young men who were looking after cows when two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) confronted them. The first APC shot in the air and the herders ran away. As they ran away, the second one started shooting the animals even though they were not in a ranch. They were in an open community land which had no crops at all. It is unethical and criminal to ... view
