  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: THAT, the proposed allocation under the Programme in respect of Development Estimates, the figure Kshs1,048,000,000 be deleted and substituted thereof with the figure Kshs.648,000,000. That Kshs400 million which is being reduced from that vote relates to that Restorative Justice Fund. As has been articulated by the Leader of the Majority Party, the fund does not exist as we speak and there is no legal framework for it. We have left Kshs100 million in relation to what the Member for Nairobi County was speaking to, towards establishment of that fund once the legal framework is built up. As confirmed, once that ... view
  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: As I indicated, I hope Hon. Wangwe was listening, what we are reducing was an additional allocation. In fact, if you look at the Estimates table, the amount was much lower than the Kshs50.2 billion shillings that is there. So, we had allocated an additional Kshs4.5 billion towards compensation of land. You will remember, in the course of this week, there has been talk of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) losing at least Kshs6.3 billion, if you were to believe what was reported in the media. view

  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: He is conversing and interrupting me in vernacular. I do not understand Kimeru and they are conversing in Kimeru with the other Hon. Member. I was saying the reduction…. view
  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Yes. The reduction relates just to the aspect of land compensation. The Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Energy is in the House, like the other very able chairs. He can confirm that there is adequate money to ensure that the powerlines, especially the Loyangalani to Suswa line, are complete. Why we are allocating more money to this endeavour is to make sure all those lines are completed to power our manufacturing item in the Big Four Agenda. As Hon. Kanini said, we cannot get cheaper power in our power bills if we are not able to transmit that power ... view

  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady I beg to move: THAT, the proposed allocation under the Programme in respect of Recurrent Estimates, the figure Ksh6,414,000,000 be deleted and substituted thereof with the figure Kshs.6,374,000,000. view
  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, as you realise, I am sure it is not what the Leader of the Majority Party is thinking. I know what he is thinking but I am confirming it does not relate to what he is thinking. This is a reduction of Kshs100 million. view
  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, there is a deletion from Kshs6.4 billion to Kshs6,374, 000,000. It is a small figure of about Kshs60 million. This is in relation to our parliamentary staff housing scheme. We had given them an additional Kshs750 million shillings but upon reconsideration of the figures, we reduced that to Kshs500 million so that Kshs250 million is shared between the two votes: that of the Senate and the National Assembly. view
