  • 26 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, first, I want to take this opportunity to thank all Members for supporting this Bill. I want to thank those who brought amendments to enrich this very good Bill, led by Hon. Ottichilo. For the first time we are bringing sanity to the management of private security providers. This Bill has stayed in the Office of the President for close to seven years. So, I am happy that the 11th Parliament has made sure that we pass this Bill. I am also sure that the over 400,000 security guards out there are happy that they now ... view
  • 12 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I fully support the sentiments of the Hon. Leader of the Majority Party. I request the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade to expedite this. The period should be reduced to 21 days as opposed to 45 days. This is a financial tragedy in this country as 1,400 workers are going to lose their jobs. We are talking of a bank with an asset base of Kshs103 billion and so, the magnitude is that great. We want the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade to move in and take action as a matter of priority. When ... view
  • 12 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: The supervision department at CBK is sleeping on its job. They should have seen this a long time ago and would have given signals to the Government. So, that department must undergo some radical surgery because it is charged with supervision. The department should also be giving us signals on a fortnight basis. That department is asleep and we want it to work. Lastly, on the issue of corruption raised by my friend, Hon. Mbadi, this Government is not corrupt. view
  • 23 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I stand to support the Petition by my good friend, Hon. Twalib. I also want to confirm that I worked in Machakos in Athi River and I was very close to the management of EPZ. At that time, you were a principal magistrate in Machakos. Those issues of EPZ are not taken seriously. Most of the companies which work there do not stick to the Employment Act and labour laws of this country. So, we want to propose that the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare should visit that area and come with a comprehensive ... view

I wish, on behalf of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, to brief the House on the status of business that is pending before the Committee as at 9th March 2016. I wish to report to the House that the Committee undertook a field visit to Naivasha ... view
