  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: (b) This project was in two phases. The first phase which was funded by French Phase 11 was going up to Kaptildil. The second phase of the project which has already started is to Karlel, all the way to Kosrai. I want to assure the hon. Member that we are going to do the second part of the project up Karlel –Kosirai this financial year. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have been personally to the said project sometimes back. I want to assure the hon. Member that the poles which were taken away were not the right sizes for that project. I want to given an assurance that this financial year commencing September, the remaining part of the project will be completed. I want to give him that assurance. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to assure this House that the issue of transformers has been taken care of. There was a problem in the purchasing of the transformers because there has been a lot of vandalism. We give priority to the projects which have been energized when they are vandalized. That has impacted negatively on the ongoing projects. I want to assure this House that we have taken care of that and beginning September, most of the projects which have stalled, we will finish them by September/October. view
  • 26 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to state again that this project will start this year. It will be among the projects which the hon. Member has forwarded, namely; Kapkuto Market, Kaptel Market, Kamurguiywa Market Dispensary, Kipture market, secondary, dispensary, water project, Talai Water Project and Karlel Dispensary, all the way to Kosirai costing the Government about Kshs17.5 million. So, I know the hon. Member has been asking me but I want to assure him and the people of Emgwen that the project will start. view
  • 19 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports:- (a) whether he is aware that potential National Youth Service recruits from Kamara Division, Kuresoi District were turned away and referred to Molo District at the recently concluded National Youth Service (NYS) recruitment; (b) the basis of the decision made by NYS officers; (c) whether any youths from Kamara Division were eventually recruited and, if so state the number; and, (d) if the exercise in both Molo and Kuresoi districts could be repeated in view of the above anomalies. view
  • 19 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, that answer is ambiguous. The Assistant Minister keeps on referring to Kamara Division in Kuresoi District. For her information, Kamara Division is composed of Sirikwa, Koige and Kamara locations, which clearly fall under Kuresoi District. That is a problem facing the Coalition Government. We have two answers and two columns within the same Government. I am not satisfied with this answer. I will refer the question to the Ombudsman. view
  • 19 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is public knowledge that I am an expert on matters of administrative units. I know for a fact that Kamara Division falls under Kuresoi District and recently, when the handing over was being done between Molo and Kuresoi, it was clearly indicated that Kamara Division falls under Kuresoi District. I know that because I am an expert on the subject. view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. Is it in order for the Member of Parliament to ask a Question on an issue in my district without consulting me? What interest does he have in it? view
  • 30 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance to support this Motion. On the outset, as an Assistant Minister in the Ministry, I want to thank the Minister, the Permanent Secretary and the staff of the Ministry for the leadership which they have shown in the Ministry. Indeed, the Ministry of Energy plays a very vital role in the development of this country. Without proper leadership, I do not think we can follow the right direction. view
  • 30 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Likewise, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Chair and the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communication and Information for their constant communication and advice. I want to thank honorable Members of Parliament for constantly raising issues and showing the way forward in the development of the energy sector. Kenya has been considered among the top in Africa, compared to Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa. Kenya is the best on this side of East and Central Africa. But wherever we go out, it is, indeed, a shame that we are talking about a generation capacity of about ... view
