Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, where I come from, the larger Machakos District from where Yatta District was curved, is a sand-harvesting area. So the councils are viable. I would, therefore, expect Yatta to be upgraded to a council. Nevertheless, in view of the fact that most of the councils are not in a position to pay allowances or salaries to councillors or even staff, could the Ministry consider salaries for councillors to be paid by the Central Government?
