  • 22 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, indeed, the Assistant Minister has done some work with regard to that problem and I appreciate it. However, could he consider compensating farmers and butchers in the area who have lost a lot of money as a result of the intermittent power failures? view
  • 22 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have no further question. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, on another occasion, I brought a Question to this House regarding a school by the name Banda Salama in my constituency and the Assistant Minister promised that it would get money after she answered the Question. That is exactly two months ago. What is happening at the Ministry of Education? Why is there a delay in releasing funds to that school? view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Energy:- (a) whether he is aware that Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has not paid for wayleave to residents of Kwa Ndolo and Kivingoni in Yatta Constituency, who do not have title deeds; (b) whether he is further aware that the proposed payments for wayleave are far too little to justify the farmers consenting to the wayleave; and, (c) whether KPLC could review the proposed payments and accept any documents of ownership from the Ministry of Lands where no titles are available. view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in the 1970s, after completion of Masinga Dam, KPLC put up the power transmission line from Masinga Dam to Nairobi. At the same time, the company informed the affected people that if they did not have title deeds, it would not compensate them for their land. To date, those people have not been paid. With regard to the current power line being put up, the same issue is coming up. If KPLC is not willing to pay, why is it taking possession of people's land? view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am asking the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to be fair to these poor people even if they have to use letters of allotment. It is the duty of the Government to issue title deeds to these people. It has not done so for the last 40 years. It is only fair that the Government does not repeat what it did in the 1970s. Why can the KPLC not use the letters of allotment and pay these people? In any case, the KPLC owns properties which it has bought without title deeds. What is ... view
  • 13 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 13 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The issue of the two Armenian brothers should not be taken lightly the way the Government has done. From the onset, the Government was cautioned. Indeed, hon. Members raised the issue of the character of the two Armenian brothers. It is obvious that the two Armenian brothers were hired to carry out political assassinations in this country. There are several questions which are begging answers: How does somebody pull out a gun at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and walk away scot-free? How can that happen in Kenya, where we have a serious problem of ... view
  • 13 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, why did the two Armenian brothers get police escort? They were escorted to the Carnivore entertainment spot by officers in police cars blaring sirens. The vehicles carrying the two Armenians did not bear any registration numbers, but the police cars had GK registration number plates. Who raided the KTN newsroom and The Standard production plant? The uniforms found at the home of the two Armenian brothers are, indeed, similar to the ones which were worn by the persons who raided the premises of the KTN and the Standard . Even somebody who has never been to school ... view
  • 6 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This is the second time that this Question is being brought before the House. The first time it was directed to the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Health then advised that the Question be directed to the Office of the President. Now the Assistant Minister is alleging that this Question should fall under the Ministry of Special Programmes. We all know that these funds are in the Office of the President. Is he not misleading the House? view
