  • 25 Jul 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer. It is very revealing as to how much revenue these areas produce. The poverty in these areas is so much that the amount of revenue that is generated is not reflected in the lifestyle in these areas and the facilities given. The LATF and CDF funds are given across the board to every constituency. Could the Assistant Minister consider giving extra funding to these areas in view of the revenue that is collected along these border posts? view

When you go to Busia border you will find trailers queuing from Matayo down to the border obstructing every thing. There is no parking facility for the trailers that are waiting to be cleared through Customs. All these border points generate money for the country and, therefore, the Treasury should set aside some money to be disbursed to these areas.
