  • 8 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Bill. This is an important Bill as far as the health of our people is concerned. Most of the referrals are made not because the patient cannot be treated in that hospital, but because the facility lacks enough facilities. Most hospitals in this country lack enough infrastructure, personnel and medical units. It is laughable that a Level 4 hospital lacks a male ward. Nyambene Level 4 Hospital in my constituency does not have a male ward and yet, we have both male and female patients in that region. Once ... view
  • 8 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: personnel who qualify to offer those services in our hospitals and recruit them. That way, our people will get good services in the hospitals when they seek medical attention. I beg this House to consider supporting this Bill, so that health facilities within the county can be improved by the Government of the day. Thank you. view
  • 12 Aug 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I do not want to repeat what my colleagues have said because whatever points they have raised are very pertinent. Let me emphasise the fact that despite the fact that this Fund is quite welcome and really assists our vulnerable people in the community, the mode of identifying these people is very The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 12 Aug 2020 in National Assembly: wanting. Those officers who are supposed to do it, as many have said, are not competent. We have a problem whereby there are people who are now almost 90 years old but have never been captured in the data. There are others who are already dead but their money comes in. The staff which the ministry uses to censor these people is so limited that it cannot cope with the volume of what is happening on the ground. The mode of enrolment should be changed. We need a committee which needs to be sitting and looking at each and every ... view
  • 30 Jul 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to air my views on this Motion. I stand to support it and thank the Committee for having brought such a detailed Report on dams in Kenya despite the fact that it is not really exhaustive because they only touched on a few of them but there are so many other dams in the country which are either stalled or have been done but have not benefitted the people as expected. • 30 Jul 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, many of our resources in this country go to waste because of poor planning. This is not only in dams but you will find that so much money is used in projects in Kenya compared to other countries and at the end of the day, we do not reap from the said projects. Even putting up roads in Kenya, one kilometer of tarmac costs more than twice in Ethiopia and some other countries. I do not know where we went wrong. A dam is supposed to be constructed, water collected and that water put into proper ... view

  • 30 Jul 2020 in National Assembly: I was talking of rural electrification whereby briefcase companies are being given this work just to erect poles and give people power. It takes three to four years and yet nothing is happening. You will just see poles, cables and transformers but there is no power. When you follow up with the contractors, you find that they do not have offices, you cannot trace them and they do not even know where the place was. They just sent some quacks to do the job, ran there and got the money. This is very unfortunate for this country and it should ... view
  • 30 Jul 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Report. Water is very important in this country. Many families suffer by going for long distance in search of water. The Government had proposed dams for construction but seven years later, construction is yet to commence. According to the Report, I want to concur with them that there is an urgency for the Auditor-General to conduct an audit of all constructed dams in the country. Most of these dams are stalled projects yet they were valued at billions. Money is lying out there without benefiting Kenyans. The Auditor-General should ... view
