26 Sep 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank the Assistant Minister for that answer. All the same, he is talking theoretically. Practically, if he went to Kirinyaga District today, he would find that middlemen are the ones peddling farmers produce for Nairobi and export markets. Is he talking the truth about the situation in Kirinyaga District? The exploitation continues unabated! He is not doing anything to help the farmers!

26 Sep 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think it would be pertinent if the Assistant Minister told this House the amount of money that farmers, particularly in Kirinyaga District, contribute towards the national revenue. He should also tell this House which measures the Government is going to take to prevent the farmers from further exploitation. Kenyans, particularly in Kirinyaga District, are losing a lot of money through fraudulent trade.

19 Sep 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, the problem with the two hon. Members is that they come from the same district. I am anticipating that similar problems will continue. Is there a way that the Ministry and the TSC can resolve this problem by recruiting teachers at the TSC headquarters instead of leaving recruitment to the DEB?

13 Sep 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like thank the Assistant Minister for that short answer. The Assistant Minister seems to be ignorant of what is happening on the ground. Kirinyaga Technical Institute is already collaborating with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. We have received a lot of correspondence from the University. The collaboration status is already on course. Could he confirm whether the information we have on the ground has not even been communicated to the Ministry of Education? The collaboration is already on-going.

12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as much as I agree with what the Minister has said, it is a great shame that since 1952, the Government has not been able to honour those who struggled for Independence. It is almost 60 years down the line. Is the Minister serious? Could I bring the list of freedom fighters from Kirinyaga so that they could be honoured by the Government?

12 Sep 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am not very sure whether the Minister is very conversant with what was happening in Mt. Kenya area. He is trying to imagine that, since the Movement was proscribed, nothing should happen to the--- The Government will do nothing to those people. Is he also aware that the same Mau Mau Movement or the freedom fighters were denied their land in 1957 by a Governor called Crawford? They were not given back their land and up to now, they are still struggling for their land. Is he going to resettle the sons and daughters ...
