  • 8 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the issue of how much money has been set aside this year is something that I can avail to this House. If that is the only issue, then, in fact, that is not a problem. view
  • 1 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank Ms. Karua for giving me these three minutes to also make my opinion known on this matter. I come from a rural constituency which some time, like ten years ago, we had known a lot of violence that was perpetrated by some people. view
  • 1 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, during those days, there used to be a lot of violence that was perpetrated against communities in the area; we knew of a lot of insecurity in that part of the country, in Tana River. I was involved to the extent of trying to assist the people who were affected. When you meet face to face with people whose houses have been burnt, their children displaced, women raped and then you are told that so-and-so were the perpetrators, and you see the way the public reacts to them, it would be unwise for us, today, to ... view

Mr. Speaker, Sir, we have been informed in this House that there has been tremendous development of the housing sector for the police. We have been informed that new barracks have July 10, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES ... view

First and foremost, I want to say that the taxation measures and proposals that have been given by the Minister must be supported. They are commendable but as always, a good idea can always be made better. Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, if you look at the Import Duty measures, the Minister has proposed that there will be no IDF to be charged on goods imported from the EAC partner States. If you come to the Income ... view

  • 26 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also want to join Mr. Khaniri in congratulating the Minister for the expansion of the Budget allocation to road maintenance. He intimated to us in his Budget Speech that he has rehabilitated 228 kilometres of roads countrywide. He has further rehabilitated, on periodic road maintenance, 287 kilometres and many others. He had also intimated to us that 116 kilometres of completely new sections have been done. However, what we would want to say as we congratulate the Minister is that we have roads that are very crucial to some districts, like Tana River District. While ... view

  • 19 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the letter that was signed by Assistant Ministers was merely emphasizing the role that we ought to accomplish, which many Ministers and their Assistants are already doing. It may be on specific cases. So, it is not correct to give the impression to the nation that the Assistant Ministers are not doing anything. view
  • 19 Jun 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I can confirm for one of them. Mr. Kalembe Ndile was also away on official duties. I know that. I cannot speak for the other one. view
