She understands the organizational structure of the Commission. The SRC is a constitutional body, created under Article 230 of the Constitution. The Commission’s functions include setting and regularly reviewing salaries and remuneration for all State officers; it is not just to set salaries and cast them in stone. view

There are serious discrepancies in the salaries and remuneration that civil servants earn as compared to the salaries earned by public officers in other institutions, including parastatals. To illustrate what I mean, I will give a very good example of three people who graduated at the same time from the same university in the same faculty. One of them was employed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), another one was employed by the City Council, while the other one was employed by a Government Ministry. ... view

  • 1 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I was previously in the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee. I am now in the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). We used to allocate money to the Attorney- General’s (AG) Office and other Government legal departments. We gave them money every year to recruit legal officers because those who were there had moved to other Government departments after a few years because the salaries at the departments they moved to were good compared to those paid by the Ministries.
