  • 15 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I really oppose this amendment because these orphanages and the private homes purporting to take care of our children have been the conduit of child trafficking in Kenya. As a member of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, we went round and listened to the Human Rights Commission and the public. What we came up with is that our children will be safe in the hands of their Government, not in the hands of private individuals who sell them for money. Thank you. view

  • 15 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. He cannot call me a voting machine. He has to withdraw that remark. I was just conversing. view
  • 15 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. Because all Members who are present today have agreed that there is child trafficking and selling, we should have a Government agency regulating, but because of some interests of some people who own children homes, they want this one not to be regulated so that money can be made by those individuals. I better be called a voting machine but make sure that our children are protected. They are better sold by the Government than by individuals. Some of those individuals are Members of this House who own children orphanages. view

  • 14 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First of all, I rise to give my voice to this Bill. I have read this Bill and the earlier Bill that we passed two weeks ago. They both look the same. If we continue with this trend of duplicating Bills, competing with each and going to an extent of Hon. Members saying which Bill came first, which came later and who copied who, it will all be in futility. The fact is that there is a Bill similar to this one. It is already in the Senate. Let us wait for that Bill ... view
  • 14 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I stand guided. I oppose a Bill that looks like the other one. Apart from some grammatical issues and commas, they are both the same. This House cannot use all its time to deal with a Bill that is already being dealt with. I rise to oppose this Bill but nonetheless, I congratulate the Hon. Member for tabling such a Bill. Next time, please, let us not copy paste Bills that are already in the House. view

  • 7 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am shocked because I have been connected to a very small party while I belong to the largest party in Africa. I came dressed in white today. White represents peace. There has been a lot of peace in this country after the handshake and Baba being promoted to be the leader of infrastructure in Africa. I was once an untrained teacher and I used to promote any child who would come late to school to be a bell ringer so that he cannot come late. I would promote any noisemaker to ... view
  • 7 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. It is not the first time the issue of age has been brought to Parliament. In fact, the issue was brought before the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs. It is important. I support my colleague, Hon. Kaluma, that we differentiate between an age limit and experience. In fact, it is not about the age limit since you can be admitted to the roll of advocates at 25 years or at 70 years. Both persons admitted at the same time at 25 or 70 years do not have the experience required to deal with ... view
