Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I wish to support this Motion and I believe it is really important for some of us who come from the areas where police reservists are supplementing the police work. They are really doing a good job. First, Madam Temporary Speaker, the way the police reservists are actually appointed is very wrong because these people are just handpicked by Government security; either the District Commissioner or maybe by the influence of politicians who are on the right side. This is very wrong because we really need people who are qualified to do the job that ...

Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Secondly, I would like to congratulate Sen. Lesuuda; this is a very important Motion. I think it is important that we should not take it lightly. The point that I really want to raise in support of this particular Motion is that, it looks like we are really diluting it. I am sorry, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. We need to look at the infrastructure in those areas because they are in a really pathetic condition. Coming from pastoral areas, I know that livestock are owned by men; women and youth do not own livestock. We are just managing those livestock for men because culturally, livestock are owned by the men.

Do not ask me why; that is the practice in those areas. So, it is really important that we appreciate women so that they can also be brought into this business. By actually constructing these abattoirs, we should ensure that they are also introduced into this business by marketing and also running businesses in those abattoirs. That way, we will actually be empowering women and youth in this part of the country. This will also make them self sustaining in terms of their livelihoods. Lastly, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when we speak of development, this is development because, over the ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion. First, I would like to thank Sen. Haji for bringing this Motion because year in, year out, we always have floods causing havoc in those parts of the country. It is really important for the county governments and the Government at large to prevent this disaster. Secondly, I would like to urge the Government and KenGen to do proper planning because if that is done, I believe there will be no problem of floods every year. One of the concerns that we need to address here is that in those ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to second this Motion on the following points. First and foremost, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Mover, Sen. (Dr.) Kuti. This is the reason why I feel that we have really lost so much with regard to our culture, especially when you look at the children we have brought to this world and how they have forgotten about their culture. If I may go back to when we were children, we used to respect our elders. For a Senator like Sen. G.G. Kariuki who is The electronic version of the ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to second the amendment. A lot has been said, but I think we need to look at the legislations that deal with licensing of alcohol. We should introduce heavy penalties for drug barons and those who are found to be guilty of peddling drugs and other substances. Secondly, I think to some extent, we should blame parents. From my experience, you will find some parents carrying their small kids to restaurants where they sit with them on the same table and drink alcohol. What would you expect from that child? ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. I believe that it is very important, especially to the area where I come from and the country at large. A lot has been said about insecurity and about the roads. I just want to add a few points. Over the years, the Government has established District Security Committees (DSCs), but unfortunately, these committees have never been formalized and empowered. Personally, I would urge the Government that if they really want these committees to work effectively, they should be formalized, empowered and also facilitated. Regarding the issue of illegal firearms, these ...
