  • 10 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Would I be in order to request that, since we have such tough sanctions against the Backbenchers - when one does not ask a Question when it is called out for the second time it is dropped, and it is not brought back - what sanctions should we apply against Ministers who fail to answer Questions because they are not here? What happens is that if Ministers are not here to answer Questions, the Questions are deferred and that is it! I seek your indulgence! view
  • 9 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am very grateful that the Minister has responded to this issue of the clubs and the terms of the elections which are coming up on 13th August. Is he aware that many clubs have been left out and are not expected to participate in the elections on 13th August? As a result, the names of those clubs do not appear on the programme of the 13th August elections. What is he going to do to make sure that these clubs are brought back on board, so that they can participate in the elections of 13th August, ... view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, whereas we recommend what the Kenya Red Cross Society has done--- My experience with the Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) issue is that the Kenya Red Cross Society moved in very fast to support them. We also appreciate what they are doing at the moment. However, I find it very ironical that whereas we have a lot of potatoes and vegetables rotting in Nyandarua and Mau which I recently visited--- Why can the Government not supplement by buying these commodities and sending them to the Kenya Red Cross Society instead of importing GMO food at a high cost ... view
  • 2 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, issues of homicide are not really confined in Marakwet West only. I would like the Assistant Minister to tell us what is happening in similar cases that are happening in Ol Kalou and, in particular, one spot called Ngano. In the last three months, we have had five cases of homicide. What is the Assistant Minister doing to address homicide cases which are occurring in various areas outside Marakwet West? view
  • 21 Jul 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a very touchy issue; it is with respect to GMOs, considering that the original GMOs were in cotton in the United States of America. Butterflies continued dying because of a GMO variety of cotton. view
  • 21 Jul 2011 in National Assembly: I have listened to the able Minister, but there are a lot of aspects in terms of risk assessment and compatibility of the GMO food with human beings. Could the Minister tell us what made the Chairman of grain millers go public and say that the price of maize meal will never come down unless they are allowed to import GMO maize? Does it mean that somebody somewhere is trying to make Kenya a guinea pig in terms of experimenting with the GMO foods? view
  • 8 Jun 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am a member of the Committee and I want to support this Motion. When we toured most of those areas, we started by meeting people in halls. But then, there was a demand that the Committee must go and visit the various groups in their areas. view
  • 8 Jun 2011 in National Assembly: So, we were forced to go to where they are settled. As a result, it has taken quite a bit of time. There are also some areas that we have not covered, such as North Eastern Province. We are supposed to go to Mandera and see some of the areas where people were displaced for one reason or another. When we do our final conclusion, we shall be able to cover the whole country and, probably, give the direction on how things should be done. view
  • 8 Jun 2011 in National Assembly: The Committee had also requested to visit some people who have faced what we faced in 2007/2008 and learn exactly what they have done. We have not achieved that. That is why, as a Committee, we would like to request for a three months extension, so that we can come up with something that is holistic and not only acceptable to this House, but be able to give the way forward for this country for the future. I support the Motion. view
  • 31 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, considering the psycho-social support which these people are supposed to get, a law has never been passed in this country regarding psychologists. Could the Assistant Minister inform this House which institutions he is using to give psycho-social support to the traumatized women, men, boys and girls who have suffered in the hands of criminals? view
