  • 24 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Deputy Speaker. Allow me, possibly to advise the Members of Parliament, especially the new ones that the authority of the Speaker cannot be questioned in this House. It is important that we respect the decision of the Deputy Speaker. Her authority is final. Hon. Kibunguchy, it is important that you learn to abide by the rules of the House. This is not a banana market. view
  • 23 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I would really seek your indulgence so that I have an opportunity to thank the people of Igembe South for giving me an opportunity to serve for a second term in this august House. Hon. Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the Motion before this House and tell the House that we are the defenders of the Constitution of the Republic of Kenya. I would really urge the House that we move with speed and approve the list of the names of the members of the Committee on Appointments, considering that this House, in its ... view

  • 19 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister is not very serious or keen in giving the right answer to this Question. For a very long time, we have discussed matters that are pending in court. At times, we stop discussing because evidence is tabled before this House that the matter is in court. So, with that experience, I find him out of order to plead with the House to be given time to go and look for papers, when he knows that there is a condition that evidence must be tabled before this House to ... view
  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as much as I respect the freedom of Press and the freedom for Kenyans to access certain information, I feel that this freedom must be exercised responsibly. Whatever newspapers carry creates perceptions across the country considering that these are national papers that are read across the country. For a weak politician or a weak Kenyan, depending on the material content of the story, those stories have been found to bring people down. Without gagging the media, we must send very strong signals to the media houses especially at this time that the country is going ... view
  • 11 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I want to oppose Madam Amina Abdalla’s amendment. I want to give a very practical example, why I am a victim. The Kenya Revenue Authority yesterday brought a letter to Clerk of the National Assembly to attach my emoluments here. When I went to follow up, I realized these people are asking for money which they purport I did not pay in the year 2005. That is eight years since I made those imports. Excise Duty was computed by them and they gave me an invoice which I paid that time. They think I underpaid. Assuming ... view

  • 11 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I think, for the first time, the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs is misleading the House and is not being very honest. I am sorry if I used the wrong language. However, I am aware that the court made a decision on this matter because it was challenged by many people. In fact, I know over 800 people that were party to this case. The judgment was made on 29th June. So, if the Ministry had any intention of appealing against this judgment or the IEBC which I know was a party, then ... view
