  • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: My apologies, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank you for the opportunity and start by saying that it is a very good thing that this House has dedicated the entire afternoon to condole with the families that have been affected by this tragedy. Mr. Speaker, Sir, from the very outset, on my own behalf, my family and the people of Vihiga County, I want to convey our message of condolence to the families who have lost their loved ones and wish those who were injured and are in hospitals a very speedy recovery. • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: Then, a day later, a fire broke out on the First Floor, at the Nakumatt Supermarket. The Nakumatt Supermarket in Westgate is located on the first floor of the building. So, if the First Floor of the building was secured and manned by our security forces, then how come we are not getting questions as to how this fire broke out at the Nakumatt Supermarket? These are some of the questions that are disturbing Kenyans. We want to have one source of information, so that we get to know the truth of what is happening in Westgate. view

Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate him. This is the right move. These are very brilliant brains that we are putting in the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights. I am sure that he will probably ... view
  • 17 Sep 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you very much for your indulgence. I rise to support the amendment that was moved by the Senator for Busia, Sen. Wako. Before I do that, allow me from the outset, to thank and congratulate the original Mover of this Motion, Sen. Nobwola, for bringing this important Motion. The initial intention was very good and the amendment moved by Sen. Wako just goes further to advance the good intentions that the Senator had. Mr. Speaker, Sir, in my service as a Member of Parliament, I have had a lot of experience in trying to intervene for ... view

  • 18 Jul 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Given that this is a Procedural Motion; considering that we have a very important Bill to discuss this afternoon, the County Allocation of Revenue Bill; would I be in order to ask that you put this matter to rest, vote on it and take a decision instead of spending time debating on whether we should shorten the period or not? view
  • 17 Jul 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this move. I urge my colleagues to do the same. In supporting the Motion, I want to take this opportunity to thank Sen. Ong’era for her magnanimity. I am the Vice-Chair of the Committee that she is leaving. I thank her for giving Sen. Okong’o a chance in the spirit of having all hon. Senators participate in committee business. I also want to take this opportunity to urge the Senate Majority Leader to reconsider the case of my friend, the Senator for Kakamega County, Sen.(Dr.) Khalwale. He was dropped from the committees that ... view
