  • 8 Oct 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I apologise if I went out of the rail. However, I agree with those who think that we should postpone the Motion. It is very important for all of us to agree on the next stage. Therefore, I support the idea of waiting a little while so that further consultations can be done. Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 8 Oct 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, on a point of order, I wish to remind my friend Hon. (Prof.) Anyang’-Nyong’o that the Minister of State in charge of Internal Security does not detain anyone. Even today, this job is supposed to be done by another minister. Not the minister of state. If it were me, may be, the story would have been different but I did not. I need to correct you. view
  • 7 Oct 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. We are passing the blame to the Chair for no reason. Before he read the Statement, I heard him asking if he could do it with your permission. He was given a go ahead. Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale was on the right path because he had been given a go ahead. He got a go ahead from your silence. That is the same as saying go on. I do not think he has committed any crime. He has not infringed on any Standing Orders. view
  • 7 Oct 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am now getting concerned that the matter is getting deeper than what we expected. Did Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale know that somebody somewhere will go to court to try to stop the Senate from discussing issues of Narok? When I became a Member of the Committee, I attended three meetings and the Narok issue was almost coming to an end but I do not know what happened immediately after that. The issue of people being accused of having been compromised cannot be taken easily. I think something has happened somewhere. The reason why the governor did ... view
  • 30 Sep 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I sympathise with the situation we are in today because I cannot understand the reason we are making this matter to be bigger than what we might think. The reason is that this House is guided by the rules and The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 29 Sep 2015 in Senate: On a point of Order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Mine is not exactly on the same issue, but it is related. There are committees which invite members of the county assemblies and governors. Those committees should inform the Senators from those counties in advance, so that they can attend the sittings of those committee meetings with their counterparts from the Senate. view
  • 29 Sep 2015 in Senate: I wanted to ask that we include Members of the Senate in Committee meetings especially the Committee on Finance, Commerce and Budget and The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 23 Sep 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, first of all, I want to congratulate my friend, the young politician, Sen. Sang, who is coming up very fast and very well. I am very impressed by the way he is doing his things. He has discovered some of the problems this The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 30 Jul 2015 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. If it were not for the constitutional requirement, we should have debated this Motion the whole day, because it really affects our political life. We have about one-and-a-half years to the next general election--- view
  • 30 Jul 2015 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. If you sit in one of the Committees where a petition has been referred to and listen to the people who call themselves “ministers” and governors, you will wonder whether they are really running the county or it is run by itself. We have all the facilities that we can use to deal with the situation on the ground. We appear to be helpless when talking about the county governments. But when you send money to the county governments and you are not satisfied that it was put into good use, why do we have ... view
