  • 15 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while appreciating the answer given by the Minister, maybe he could admit that he has a shortage of staff and vehicles. It is not only in Wajir South where young people are not being registered. What remedial measures will the Minister consider to make sure that we register all the young people either through education institutions like schools which will hasten the registration procedure? Are you setting up any short-term measures to make sure that you catch up with the time? view
  • 15 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Assistant Minister in order to mislead the House? Last year in December, I invited the former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education to my school called Mogori Girls Secondary School. We visited the school, it was upgraded to a national school and he promised that those schools will get Kshs12.5 million by September. Is the Assistant Minister in order to mislead the House that the Ministry has not budgeted for these funds? view
  • 14 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, while I congratulate the Minister and the TSC for a job well done, there are two issues that I want to address. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the deployment of teachers by the TSC needs to be looked into. Some of the regions in this country have a surplus of trained teachers and others are suffering the shortage of teachers. Domesticating teachers does not help the national goal of giving us quality education. The TSC should come up with a policy to make sure teachers are evenly deployed in this country. Arid and semi-arid areas should ... view

  • 31 Jul 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while the Assistant Minister has made an effort to respond, we have been informed that these two children are still admitted in the Intensive Care Unit for the last two months. We would wish the Assistant Minister to tell the House the condition of the two children as they continue incurring more expenses. Should the Assistant Minister confirm they are still in the Intensive Care Unit, could he consider paying for the bills because the Member for Lari has categorically said that this family cannot afford to meet the bills? view
  • 28 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is astonishing! First, the Government has admitted that it took action. The Minister for Foreign Affairs--- Is it in order for the Minister for Foreign Affairs or the Minister of State for Defence to go scot-free, after having come to the House and told the entire nation that they took action? Now, they have not taken action. Are we giving them a free ride to come to this House and mislead the nation? Were our military forces used to carry drugs? That is the answer we want. view
  • 27 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think the Minister is being a little bit humourous. However, while he is committed to doing what is supposed to be done, it is on record that we have projects under the Economic Stimulus Programme which have stalled? Could you--- view
  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has informed the House that the District Health Management teams in the Republic will take over when the centres that are built using CDF funds will be provided with staff. Mr. Assistant Minister, could you tell us when that will be? In Kiharu, I have one particular complete health centre which has no nurses. How soon shall we get the nurses to manage those completed health centres? view
