  • 18 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: when you come to the Floor. It is important that we look at those provisions, as you indicated earlier, with a view of improving the quality of debate in the House and the usefulness of the time that we get when we come to this House. Without a doubt, there are quite a number of Members who benefit us in a big way when we listen to them. I keep talking about Hon. Makali Mulu. He and Mheshimiwa Kimunya are so knowledgeable in finance that listening to them also helps you improve your articulation of some of those areas. There ... view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. On behalf of myself, my family and the good people of Ndaragwa, I wish to pass my condolences to the family of the late President. I remember him for many things including the fact that he told us that a great nation is not marked by the size of the population but by the size of the hearts of those who live in it. We can see it in the long lines or queues of people who have come to view him in this town today. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Secondly, 99 per cent of us here went to school when he was the President. Because he ensured there was peace, let us also, as leaders do the same to ensure others benefit when in in positions of authority. view
  • 4 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I was negotiating with the Member of Parliament from Meru County. We are suffering from the influence of Muguka and Miraa in my county. We are wondering how we can reduce the importation of that product to our areas. I support the appointment of Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o. I have heard what my colleagues have said and I want to reiterate the provisions of the Constitution. This is a constitutional office. The reason why it was made a constitutional office was for the occupiers of the office to wake up view

  • 4 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: to the reality that, if they do not exercise their independence, they will be taking us back from where we came from as a country when we did away with our first Constitution since Independence. There is unnecessary caucusing led by Mhe. Baya. Hon. Temporary Speaker, if you can help… view
  • 4 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: Yes, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. But Hon. Baya and the Leader of the Majority party are negotiating for this position. It is already gone. We are about to approve the name. So, Mhe. Baya can negotiate for other positions If I may reiterate the provisions of Article 73 of the Constitution, public offices are still suffering in this country. Kenyans do not have the confidence in those offices and the people serving in them. Clearly, under Article 73, it is important that the gracious lady familiarises herself with the need to ensure that the office wins the confidence of Kenyans. ... view

  • 3 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I stand to support that Petition by the Member for Cherangany. I filed a similar Petition on behalf of the people of Ndaragwa. It is important to note that there are many parcels of land in this country which are still within the forest area, but which have since been developed. They have been developed to serve the public. We have public institutions, public schools and hospitals within those areas. It is only fair that the boundaries for the forest in those areas be altered, including what the Member for Cherangany has requested for. The reason ... view
  • 3 Dec 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to agree and support the direction that you have given. There is a habit that seems to be forming within Members of failing to be familiar with the rules of this House and the workings of the House. What we are now doing is going to radio stations and everywhere else but Parliament, and issuing sensational statements. It is unbelievable that a Member can stand on a public platform in the countryside and say that this House is made up of wakoras. Looking for populism by tarnishing the image of this House does not ... view
