  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Mheshimiwa Sonkok or Sankok is not a stranger to this. He has chosen not to be here. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, yet another case of a person who did not listen. I did not say that Mheshimiwa Sankok in his contribution was heckling. Just pay attention to what I am saying and you will see I have a point. In fact, eventually, you will be happy with what I want to say. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Yes, I am, by saying this: When we have different views from what is perhaps popular on the Floor, our colleagues should be careful not to heckle or to shout you down. Just a few minutes ago, nominated Member Sankok opposed this Motion, just like Hon. Sheikh had opposed the earlier one, but he was not heckled. That is the point I am making. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Mheshimiwa Wamunyinyi made very good reservations about the report. He was not heckled. What I am unhappy about is the way we heckled that Member. He was very eloquent and making some very useful points. Kenyans want to hear both sides of the divide. And Parliament is about debating. It is not about whipping people emotionally to one side. I do not even need to bother talking about this. In any case, I know what I wanted to say, Mheshimiwa Charles Kilonzo has said. We were with him in Mt. Elgon during the 10th Parliament. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, this is a very old issue. If it is not given a solution to the problem we identified then, then there is a problem. However, I want to say this as I conclude: The Kenya Forest Services Board (KFSB) is not to deny us an opportunity to live in this world. It is to manage the environment so that we can also benefit from the existing forests. I think they are missing a point. We said we need 10 per cent forest cover in this country, but they cannot just sit there and not help us ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: As they tell us what we have to do when we want to cut a piece of the forest so that people can be accommodated, they should also account for what they have done to conserve the endangered species and ensure that the forest cover is being increased. When you drive from Nairobi towards Nyeri and Mt. Kenya region, you will see a lot of land covered by trees and people are in that forest. But before it was clean shaven. But people have planted trees and there is forest cover in settled areas. This forest cover cannot only be ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I know you are not a stranger to Nyandarua because, in any case, before you get to Laikipia, you go through Nyahururu - the town that you took away from us. I want to remind you that Ndaragwa borders the Aberdare Forest. We in Ndaragwa have taken care of the Aberdare Forest very well for the reason that we have the elephant fence that was done. We need to do similar fences elsewhere but, as I said, we also want as Members of Ndaragwa Constituency to benefit from the Aberdare Forest. We cannot just take care ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: I thank you Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 2 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to tender my apologies because I pressed the wrong button when I walked in. I even wanted to intervene on the other one. view
  • 2 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: I just want to support that Petition by saying that one of the problems we have encountered is that, successive governments do not carry on with the work that had been done by the previous governments. What is clear here is that the previous Government undertook some exercise that was left pending and the current one is dragging its feet in finishing that which had been started? This is a case that is also in Ndaragwa. We have the Ndaragwa Township that was partly in a forest. The process had been started by the previous Government and to date it ... view
