  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister has said that once he collects that cheque, he would like to pass it to the lawyer. I am sure the lawyer would like to get the charges deducted from there. If he wants to be straight view
  • 29 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I wanted to say exactly what hon. Mbadi has said. view
  • 28 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I quite agree with the Minister, when he says that some departments may not warrant having the head of department posted, But here we are talking about the Government and public service. Migori District has three divisions with only one Acting District Commissioner. He is manning the three divisions headquarters and even the District Officer’s (DO1) position. How does he expect the Government to function without important officers in the offices? view
  • 28 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know this is not relevant to him--- view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology:- (a) When the Government will establish more middle colleges such as the former Kenya Science Teachers College (KSTC) to offer science, technological and vocational courses in view of the fact that science, technological and vocational training are critical in the realization of Vision 2030, and, (b) whether she could consider aligning both KSTC and Kenya Polytechnic University College to offer courses both at diploma and degree levels in technical and vocational courses in view of the planned view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for the work well done. Actually, this Minister seems to be doing very well in the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and we need to commend her. In fact, I want to commend her for upgrading Moi Institute of Technology in Migori to university status. But while that was done, we had certificate courses offered in this institution. Since it was upgraded, we have students who are still doing certificate courses and their fate is not definite. I am told that the Principal and the deputy have been ... view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, while I appreciate the answer given by the Minister, I want to point out there that vocational and technical training in our institutions is actually the life of future Kenya in realizing the Vision 2030. When Kenya Polytechnic University becomes a fully fledged university, I would want the Minister to assure this House and the country that the Kenya Science Teachers College will be aligned to the Kenya Polytechnic University so that they conduct those courses effectively as opposed to now where they are aligned to University of Nairobi where so many courses are done and ... view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I hope the Assistant Minister is a Kenyan and he understands what goes on in Kenya. This idea of a strike by the two unions has now been in our media and public knowledge for over two months. For the Assistant Minister to come here and allege that he is not aware, is he saying that he is not conversant with what goes on in the Ministry of Education? view
  • 15 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I think this is a very serious case. The Assistant Minister should consider a school where children are sleeping in the laboratory. These students ought to use the laboratory during tuition. Could the Ministry put in place some plan to use some emergency funds from the Ministry to put up a dormitory for the students, so that the students can move from the laboratory and use it for learning? view
  • 15 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in some cases, this idea of squatters and encroachment of schools and public land happens because most of these schools are not fenced. Could the Assistant Minister bring in a policy whereby all headmasters and school principals are forced to fence schools, so that nobody can encroach school land? view
