  • 26 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he could consider writing off the loans advanced to farmers in Njoro, Lare and Mau-Narok divisions, in view of the total crop failure caused by prolonged drought and post-election violence. view
  • 26 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I agree with the Assistant Minister’s answer, but I will ask one more question. Surely, with all the due reasons given, we have some farmers in my constituency whose properties and crops were destroyed during the post-election violence (PEV) and thereafter, they became Internally Displaced People (IDPs). When they returned to their former lands, they were caught up with the drought. Mr. Assistant Minister, surely, however, much these people would like to repay the loans, whether it is by rescheduling or by refinancing; how does a person who is crying for food - we are ... view
  • 26 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my question is whether the Ministry can write-off the loans for farmers in Njoro, Lare and Mau-Narok divisions because they are unable to service them? view
  • 26 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do agree with the Assistant Minister, but I will request him whether he can replicate what the Minister for Health did. He ordered the write-off of the bills of those patients who were detained at the Kenyatta National Hospital, because they are in the same Government. Even the Minister for Agriculture can do the same and write-off these loans for these Kenyans who are dying. They do not have anything. Their small farms will be auctioned. Mr. Assistant Minister, can you be serious? If that is not the case--- view
  • 25 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for the way he has answered this Question. But being my neighbor in Nakuru, I would ask him what he is doing about the road between Stem Hotel all the way to Mau Narok, considering that we are the ones who feed them with all the food from Mau Narok and Kisii. Right now, that road is in a deplorable condition and I would like him to tell the House whether they are considering doing something about it. view
  • 19 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he could consider writing off the loans advanced to farmers in Njoro, Lare and Mau-Narok divisions in view of total crop failure caused by prolonged drought and post-election violence. view
  • 19 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I accept the request which has been put by the Assistant Minister, I would like him to go and do thorough research because this Question has been asked severally. We have a feeling that there are some areas which are being marginalized. Other areas have been considered yet in my constituency, these people have not been considered. view
  • 17 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Special Programmes what steps she will take to ensure that the suppliers of the materials used to reconstruct the housing units for the IDP returnees in Molo view
  • 17 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Special Programmes view
  • 17 Nov 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have a lot of respect for the Minister because we have been working very closely in resettling the IDPs in Molo Constituency. However, she has misled this House by disowning these NGOs assisting in resettling the IDPs. I was in a function with her where she commended an NGO by the name of Hope Africa Management Initiative. This NGO came to my constituency through her Ministry and requested the IDPs to contribute Kshs5,000 each towards construction of houses. The NGO collected the money and houses were constructed for them. I wonder why she says she is ... view
