  • 11 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: work together. When they work together, then we will not have a repeat of the incidences like a lie. You do not defend an ideology that does not exist so that you can be seen to be defending a particular position. When somebody comes up with a way forward in terms of how the Westgate, Mpeketoni and Mandera. Our National Intelligence Service officers gather information, but they cannot act on it. They will even see people planning and even going to kill and then, here we are defending we can save our country, he is considered to be working in ... view

I want to take this opportunity to wish all the Members a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. For the people of Igembe North, I appreciate them for giving me the opportunity to serve them. I wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As we go for the recess and the Christmas break, it will not only be a festive period, but we can take it for reflection, ... view
  • 11 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Parliament, the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) is wrong to undermine the lowly. They are not paid a lot yet their money is not available to be reimbursed so that they too can also enjoy their Christmas. I think this word should reach the people it is supposed to reach. We cannot be told that the Treasury has not released the money and so our staff have no money. view
  • 9 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you. I rise to note this Report by the President. It is important that this new Constitution, despite some challenges here and there, has some benefits like the opportunity to know what Kenya signed, what it means and the obligations of the country. It is also important that as we note this Report, we understand that when our representatives in various areas, whether ambassadors or the ones entrusted with those responsibilities, append their signatures to those treaties, they look at the greater good of the country. This is because as it is highlighted in the ... view
  • 9 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: So for that reason, it is important that as our people sign this, they are alive to the implications and what it means to the lives of Kenyans. When I look at this Report, there are certain treaties like the one on page 18; the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. When I look at it and see countries that have banned the trade and use of miraa in their own countries, for me it is against some of those treaties. This is because people in my community, Igembe and Meru County, rely on their miraa and it ... view
  • 9 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: So, when they ban the use of miraa in their countries like the United Kingdom (UK), the United States of America (USA) and many other European countries, that will go against this particular international covenant. This is because people in my community, who are in that place--- Even when they have to engage in marriages, miraa is part of that process. Therefore, by banning the use of miraa in those countries they end up also working against our culture, economic and social rights. We have our representatives in these countries, who need to highlight the fact that by denying this--- ... view
  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I am also rising to support this particular amendment. Determining the net worth of our natural resources is of utmost importance. This is because at times we end up being exploited by foreign bodies or companies when we are not very clear about the net worth of what we have as natural resource. I support this amendment. view

  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: I think this particular amendment is very important. This will enable the people of Kenya to complain in the event that they realise the environment is being interfered with. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I would also like to support this amendment. At times, it may happen and the parents are very worried that the child may have been lost, kidnapped or died because of the insecurity situation. It would have been better if these days were reduced to three because seven days is quite a bit of time and the parents or the guardians of this child may be under distress. I would like to ask the Chair whether this time could even be reduced so that before the seven days, the parents are informed. I support. view
