  • 29 Nov 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I feel pain when you sit down with lawyers, you agree and then they turn around and stab you in the back. We requested to be invited for that meeting by the Committee on Delegated Legislation of the National Assembly. They rushed there, they did not invite us and the same afternoon, the report was before the National Assembly. So, I feel a lot of pain about this. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, there appears to be a broad conspiracy to make sure that this Senate is merely a debating club and that it does not deliver. ... view

  • 3 Nov 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me not say what I was about to say because he has apologized. Imputing any improper motives on the Speaker himself is gross misconduct which would warrant him being excluded from this House. view
  • 3 Nov 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I understand the frustration of the Senate Majority Leader. The Senate has passed many important Bills over the last four years which go into some limbo and we are not told what happened to them. I do recall that one of the Bills is an important Bill for this country. The Bill which was passed by this House brought by the Senate Majority Whip, Sen. Elachi, which was establishing the National Food Security Council and cascaded committees which would oversee the The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. ... view
  • 2 Nov 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support Sen. Mositet. People are dying even as we are speaking here. This is not a matter that concerns only Sen. Bule but it a matter affecting this country and the Statement is the property of the House. Therefore, could you allow it to be given so that we can save lives in this country? view
  • 24 Aug 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the Report of the Mediation Committee. Many people have been talking of Africa’s “resource curse”, specifically the “oil curse”. There is no resource curse or Africa’s oil curse. There is only a management and political curse. This new law is putting in place a system to ensure more transparency, better management of the resources in this country so that the resources are more equitably distributed, especially to the host communities. I commend this Bill and the Report of the Mediation Committee because it will ensure that the oil resources are a blessing ... view

  • 24 Aug 2016 in Senate: I want to thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for extending my time by five minutes because I have a lot to say on this matter. First, allow me to thank my Co-Chair Sen. Orengo for moving the Report and the draft Bills on behalf of the Committee. He has done an excellent job and in an eloquent manner that impresses everybody. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I also want to thank the Members of the Joint Select Committee with whom we worked; the “bullfighter” here and the other group which is now called “the Pangani Six”. I think this team ... view
