  • 3 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me a chance to also contribute to this very important Bill. From the outset, I commend the Mover for his brilliant thoughts about the community and the importance of bringing the Constitution, which many Kenyans passed, to life. There was a time when projects were designed and monitored by the central Government and some sections of this country were given projects that were not benefitting them. Therefore, the Constitution brought the new perspective of how citizens can contribute to the decision making on what projects benefitted them. This is, therefore, a very important ... view

  • 20 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to add my voice to the two Statements. Killing our sugar industry is like killing our economy. Importing contaminated sugar is an economic crime which is killing the Kenyan consumers. Since agriculture is a devolved function, I urge my colleagues in the Senate not to tire. We should stand with Kenyans and speak to this matter to the last man standing. We should also speak about the corruption at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and the issues of contraband products that are coming into our country. We ... view
  • 13 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to add my voice to this important Bill. From the onset, this is a timely Bill because we need to support devolution in all aspects. It proposes to create an office to publish and print all official documents of the county governments. Therefore, with the spirit of devolution, we need to give all counties a mandate to publish their own documents from their counties rather than coming all the way to the Government Printer in Nairobi to print their official documents. This Bill also seeks to create an office ... view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to add my voice to the Statement that has been raised by the ‘super’ Senator of Nairobi County, who is our host. The state of Nairobi is a sad situation because the city not only hosts the Parliament of Kenya, but also big national and international institutions. In any budget that has passed through this House, we have always seen Nairobi County getting the biggest share of revenue allocation. Nairobi County also has very big private institutions. It already has existing infrastructure, for example, tarmac roads. Therefore, the Nairobi County ... view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: Thank you Madam Temporary Speaker for giving me a chance to contribute on the Motion for Adjournment of the House to enable Members to attend the Annual Legislative Summit which will be held in Mombasa. I am in support of this Motion because Members of this House need to interact with the county assemblies that are also in charge of devolution. We need to interact with them so that we understand whether there are legislative gaps that need to be addressed in this House, so that we help them to put them in place to ensure that devolution can see ... view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me a chance to second the Motion that has been moved by my colleague, Sen. (Dr.) Milgo. From the onset, I congratulate her and the delegation which attended the Summit, and for having compiled a very important report and presented it to this House. I also commend them for putting forward recommendations to us, as a House, so that we can find out how we can implement the Report. I support the Report. I thank all the supporters of this initiative; all international organisations. I also thank KEWOPA and the leadership ... view
