(a) The monthly pension for Mr. Paul Kimosbei Kogo was stopped after it was returned by his bank, the Co-operative Bank of Kenya, Eldoret, as a result of closure of his bank account. view
  • 9 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, Mr. Kogo submitted to us his bank account for the Post Bank. When we checked that bank account, we found it to be wrong and we, therefore, could not remit money through it. We wrote to him a letter dated 10th July, 2009 advising the pensioner to submit correct bank account details to enable payment of his pension benefits. His monthly pension will be paid as soon as we get a response from the pensioner. view

(a)The Pensions Secretary/Director of Pensions relied on the Cabinet decision in implementing the pension increase in the year 2006. The Cabinet decision was informed by the report of a professional firm of actuaries dated August 2005. (b)The Government spent a total of Kshs7, 500,000 in the production of the actuarial report.   • 8 Sep 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Government has increased pensions three times. The first increase was in 2006, when the Government raised minimum pensions from Kshs500 to Kshs2, 000. The same year, the Government increased that pension by Kshs300 to make it a minimum of Kshs2, 300. In 2009, the Government increased the pensions from Kshs2, 300 to Kshs2, 600. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Government has also incorporated a permanent increase which will be effected every year. This increase is 3 per cent every two years. That is the Government’s plan. view
