  • 31 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Kenyans have lived together knowing that some are Muslims, Christians and some are atheists and we have moved on as a community. I, therefore condemn, with all strength, all acts of a religious nature. However, I would have loved my colleague to also give us, at least, some of the reasons that made this teacher do what he did. • 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. It is unfortunate we are talking for about one minute. As a Member of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research, I would like to bring it to the attention of the House that even as we sit here, we are working on a very comprehensive report on unrest in schools. Sooner or later, it will be tabled in the House. I wish that some of these suggestions or the debate that has gone on here forms part of that Report. I would like to say that CCTVs are part of a ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I was almost getting worried and coming to your desk to find out whether my machine is working. I rise to support this Motion. The essence of living is hope. When people have hope for the future, they see the need of doing something. Since the beginning of this programme of NYS, as my colleagues have pointed out, the Government of Kenya has always used a lot of money. As outlined here, those people are trained to acquire certain skills to participate in national development programmes. As we stand here today, I know if ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Sometimes, it has been assumed that some of those young people who are recruited into NYS do not make it academically to go to the other colleges or universities. The only thing they have may be the physical aspect of them. Having worked in the academia for a number of years, I know this is not true. When people are doing exams, sometimes things happen; that people are not even able to get the mark that they were targeting to get. Second to that, my colleague has just mentioned the concept of people living with disabilities. If the matter is ... view
  • 27 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I support this Motion. But I would encourage that our Government and the concerned bodies see it fit that the youth should be given a line of continuity so that there is sustainability. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 26 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Yes. Thank you very much. I rise to support the amendment. The discussion would not have been complete if the amendment would not have received a voice of a lady from the Lake Region. It is important to acknowledge that the mall we are talking about is one of its kind in the entire region. I thank whoever thought about it and the discussion that went therein. We believe it will go a long way in even encouraging more developments of its kind in the region. view

  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to also add my voice to this important Motion. I want to congratulate my colleague, Hon. Kemosi, and all of those who have contributed before me. view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: The concept of education and its ability to change people’s lives cannot be over emphasised. Some of us, as we stand here today it is purely courtesy of education that has transformed us to who we are today. I join my colleagues who are testifying that the milk, which the former President Daniel Arap Moi took to primary schools, made a great difference in the lives of the children. It was sad when I watched that programme collapse. I know what it did to me and many other children in my class. I wished it continued to help other children ... view
