  • 22 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. In support of this very important Motion, let me indicate that this Motion is very timely as it is. It has generated a lot of questions in the minds of Kenyans. I would like to thank the Mover of this Motion, hon. Ruteere, for listening to the cries of Kenyans. Let me also remember the major role that has been played by the US, as a super power, in the United Nations, together with other major players, namely, Russia, China, Britain and France. As a super power, the US should not forget the technical ... view
  • 22 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I also take this opportunity to join my colleagues in supporting this very important Motion. Let me further thank the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs for his inspiring remarks. Further, I would like to take this opportunity to thank His Excellency the President for uniting this country and, again, for creating the necessary environment for the economic growth of our country. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I will also remember to thank the Prime Minister for utilizing his time well in the House. Let me also urge the security agents in the country to maintain security ... view
  • 16 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also intend to give a reflection on this issue that is before the House. My very personal view is that Kenya has not been made a supervisor by IGAD to supervise the incoming referendum in Sudan. That is tantamount to interfering with an independent state. Our country, Kenya, must maintain a neutral position in this situation. Our image must be maintained for now and posterity. view
  • 16 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to also echo my observations. First of all, let me thank the Prime Minister for issuing this desired Statement. In addition, I urge him to give full assurance to the nation that the peace, stability and economic growth realized in the last three years would not be disrupted by the current predicament in the nation. view
  • 15 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. While I thank the Assistant Minister for that brief answer, I would like him to remember that railway stations in Nairobi, Uplands and Matassia are in a very deplorable state. They have been neglected for a long time. What programme does the Kenyan Government or RVR have to modernize and renovate those railway stations? view
  • 15 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank the Assistant Minister for that very positive reply although very belatedly. I would like to request him to indicate to the House the plans the Ministry has to increase the number of mobile schools in semi arid areas, so that learners can access classes which are a right for all students. view
  • 15 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir for giving me this chance to echo my support to this very important report. Let me start by thanking the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communications and Information for the good job that he has done with the Committee Members. One thing that has excited me is about the far-reaching recommendations that have been made by this Committee on the appointment of these people. I also thank the entire Committee for the diligence they have exhibited in the compilation of this Report. One critical observation that has come out is the ... view
  • 15 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for giving me this opportunity to join my colleagues in supporting this very important report. First, let me thank the Chairman, Mr. Kaino for the true leadership he has provided to this Committee. I note with appreciation the very good content in this report. I would urge the Government to make sure that this report is given full implementation after it is passed. We realize that this will be one way of reducing cattle rustling. It will also create peace and tranquillity in this area. We have noted in this report that innocent people ... view
  • 14 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I take this opportunity to thank the Minister for this very timely Bill that has come to the House. One clear thing that has come out is that tea hawking in this country is outlawed. Tea hawkers are now warned to look for alternative business because the law will catch up with them. With those few remarks, I fully support the new Bill. view
  • 14 Dec 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I also take the opportunity to make my contribution to this very important Report. Firstly, let me thank the leadership and the Chair of the Committee for the manner he has led the Committee, not forgetting that a few days ago, he was making another Report on 2005/2006 in this House. The diligence exhibited by this Committee is really commendable. I also wish to thank the hon. Members of this Committee for their commitment in serving in this Committee and in assisting in the production of this Report. I would, therefore, echo my total appreciation for ... view
