  • 18 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Since the Assistant Minister has agreed that indeed there have been two or three fatal accidents, and as we are speaking right now, we have one dead person at Kijabe and another one critically injured, could he consider providing a footbridge to contain further injuries along this road? If action is not taken immediately, it is likely the entire human traffic on that road will be eliminated and by the time the Ministry decides to come, all the people would have been finished along this road. Could the Assistant Minister be serious now? view
  • 13 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Vote. First, I take this opportunity to thank the Minister, the Assistant Minister and the Permanent Secretary for the total sacrifice and commitment that they have given to this Ministry which at one time was dead. The resolve and the untiring effort by the Minister and the entire staff must be maintained to realize the serious objectives needed in our country. Reclaiming lost glory in this nation is a serious matter. We all realize that we were in a crisis situation in ... view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Water and Irrigation what urgent measures the Ministry was taking to ensure that the residents of Mwea have access to clean drinking water, considering that Mwea GK Prison uses River Murubara for drainage and the villagers use the same water for domestic purposes. view

  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a very sad incident that has taken place in that area. Emanating from that shooting, I would ask the Assistant Minister to tell the House which humanitarian assistance the Ministry has accorded to the critically injured woman. view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the Assistant Minister has given the implication that it has not been possible to give an assessment on the development already achieved on these pieces of land. Does he imply that the Government does not have the machinery or capacity to give an assessment on the developments? view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Vote. If you look at the industrialization process in this nation, you will realise that it has been messed up. It is important that we look at the management style that we inherited since 1963. Look at the Asian factories or industries. They are strong and vibrant and they create employment for our people. Look at the factories that were taken over by Africans on the eve of the Africanization programme which were introduced by the Founding Father of this nation, for example, ... view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the other issue is creating innovative environment for industries to thrive in this nation. If you looked at the way Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)--- Equity Bank and Nakumatt Supermarket have already moved away from this country, because the conditions provided by the Government are not favourable to proper management of our industries. We should contain the exodus of industrialists. The food that we import from Tanzania and Uganda is grown by Kenyans, who have moved away from this country because the terms and conditions in this country are not really good. Today, we have noticed that ... view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I take this opportunity to join my colleagues to make a few remarks on this Motion. First, I would like to thank the Minister for the good job that he has continuously done in the Ministry. I will also not forget the role played by the Assistant Minister and the Permanent Secretary in that Ministry. That spirit that they have exhibited must be maintained. view
  • 11 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute to this very important Vote. First, I would like to thank the Minister for performing so well in the Ministry. I would also like to thank the Assistant Minister and the Permanent Secretary who have been of great help in the management of this Ministry. This Ministry has been charged with an important responsibility of promoting the living standards of our people. Therefore, resources will be used to realise these objectives. I call upon the Minister to ensure that fairness, justice, and equity are applied in the ... view
