• 12 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, if the reason for issuing appointment letters at the headquarters is because the district does not have the capacity, why did the Ministry not consider inviting these applicants at intervals, so as to avoid subjecting them to financial cost because you are not giving them any allowances for the upkeep? Some of them have been here for more than three weeks. Why was it not necessary to call them at different days to ensure that they do not suffer financial cost? view
• 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. In the last financial year, some districts which fall under this particular Ministry never got any funding. One of the reasons, in my view, is because the Ministry lumps some districts together like now what they have done with Samburu which has three districts but they have lumped them into one. What arrangements do they have to ensure that these other independent districts also get funding because they all fall under one office of Arid Lands Resource Management? view
• 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if you look at the recruitment carried out by the Ministry in April, you realize that some districts were given more teachers than others. Yet in some districts we experience acute shortage of teachers. Could the Assistant Minister explain why there is this disparity? I know we have a major shortage of teachers in Vihiga District. view
• 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I asked a similar Question sometime last year and I was surprised to learn that for the last ten years not a single candidate from Samburu East has got a scholarship. I was promised by the Minister then that they were going to consider Samburu East when opportunities arose. What arrangements has the Minister put in place to ensure that even those candidates or interested persons from marginalized areas get to know that these scholarships are available? I will be interested to know when the Minister tables the next list, if there is anybody from Samburu ... view

Sometime last month, before the House went on recess, I had sought a Ministerial Statement from the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security in respect of a young man who was forced to take some poisonous substance before he was stabbed to death by an Administration Police Officer. view

I had requested for a Ministerial Statement to know the outcome of that analysis. To date, the Minister had not delivered that Statement. It is my concern because the family is really anxious to know the outcome of the analysis from the Government Chemist. view
