  • 24 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for lands:- (a) what informed his decision to raise adjudication fee from Kshs250 to Kshs500 per hectare vide the Legal Notice No.9 of the Kenya Gazette Supplement No.2 dated 22nd January, 2010; (b) how many registered group ranches in Samburu North, East and Central are with uncollected title deeds due to high cost; and, (c) whether he could consider rescinding the decision and reverting to the old charges. view
  • 24 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know that some time in the year 2005, the Government promised the people of Kenya that for those who own ranches, the Government would waive adjudication fee. What happened that the Government has not fulfilled this promise? view
  • 24 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if you look at the answer given in part (b) of this Question, you will find that the Assistant Minister has said that non-collection of title deeds is not due to the increase in adjudication fee. Why have the people not collected the title deeds if it is not because they are unable to raise the adjudication fees? Do you expect those people to collect those documents now that you have raised the adjudication fee? view
  • 23 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Roads the following Question by Private Notice. view
  • 23 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: What immediate action is the Minister taking to repair the bridge at Seiya River between Kisima Trading Centre and Lekuru Market in Samburu Central District, which has been damaged due to the on-going heavy rains, before it completely collapses? view
  • 23 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I must thank the Assistant Minister for the prompt action he has taken. Now that he has given the works to be undertaken by the Regional Manager, South Rift, could he tell the House which districts form South Rift region will benefit to ensure that leaders from the larger Samburu will not be left out in the tendering process? view
  • 23 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, given that this is the road that links Samburu Central and Samburu East, could the Assistant Minister tell the House how long the project will take to ensure that the traders who rely on this road for transportation of goods and services will not be inconvenienced for long? How long will the project take to reach completion? view
  • 23 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I think the Assistant Minister is being unfair to the people who are served by that road. According to the expectations and planning of that Ministry, how long did they expect the works to take so that the people who rely on that road for transportation of goods and services will not be inconvenienced? That is what I am asking! He should be able to give an estimate. view
  • 16 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Technology: - (a) to inform the House how many casual employees are currently employed by the Multimedia University College of Kenya and state how long each of the employees has worked as a casual; and, (b) what plans she has to ensure that they are employed in compliance with the labour laws? view
  • 16 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the information that I have is that the number of casual employees at the Multimedia University College is 149 and not 138. But I will leave that to the Minister to verify. But my concern is that those casual employees who have worked between three months and two years are 98. Could the Minister explain, how long does an employee work as a casual before he or she is permanently employed? Under what circumstances have the 98 employees worked as casuals? view
